Stickers are so handy, aren’t they?
People use them in all kinds of ways—sticking them in planners, using them as labels—and with so many types available these days, once you start using them, you’ll want to collect all sorts of designs.
And if you fall in love with stickers, chances are you’ll want to try making your own with your favorite patterns at least once.
So in this article, we’ll share some DIY sticker ideas.
The classic method uses OPP tape, but we’ll also introduce other simple techniques, so feel free to use them as a reference!

[Easy] Handmade sticker ideas: How to make original stickers (1–10)
[OPP Tape] Original Sticker

You can easily make stickers using cute patterned origami, wrapping paper, or design paper! First, cut the origami into your favorite shapes.
Next, stick OPP tape onto a piece of parchment paper, then place the cut origami pieces on top.
Finally, apply another layer of OPP tape, press out the air, and cut each piece out with scissors—and you’re done! When cutting, it helps to leave a small margin around the design.
You can stick them in your planner or use them as accents for gift wrapping, so definitely try making your own original stickers.
Remake washi tape into flake stickers!
When I find cute masking tape, I can’t help buying it since it’s affordable! If you have washi tapes you haven’t used or designs you don’t love, why not try making flake stickers? All you do is stick your favorite washi tape onto a piece of parchment (cooking) paper and cut the sheet into whatever sizes you like.
It’s an easy way to mass-produce stickers, perfect for sharing as little gifts with friends.
Use them for collages, add accents to your planner—stick them wherever you like and have fun!
Original tattoo sticker
Why not add a stylish accent to your look by creating your own custom tattoo stickers? With a transparent transfer sticker kit, you can easily make tattoo stickers at home! You can use your own original illustrations or free materials for the designs.
Simply print your favorite artwork onto the special sheet, apply the transparent adhesive film over it, then cut out the illustration with scissors—and you’re done! Transfer it onto your skin to use as a tattoo sticker, or apply it to accessories and other items for fun.
OPP Tape Pressed Flower Stickers
Pressed flowers let you enjoy beautiful blooms for a long time.

App: Purikura-style stickers
Even as times change, “purikura” photo booths remain hugely popular with middle and high schoolers.
Let’s have fun making purikura-style stickers at home! First, use an app called “Background Eraser” to load your favorite image and roughly cut it out.
You can also make adjustments on-screen, so feel free to edit as you like! Next, choose a background with an app called “Pinterest,” then place the cutout image on it—that’s it.
You can decorate it however you want during this step, too! Finally, select how many images to split the sheet into and print—done! It’s a perfect idea for fan activities, too.

Why not make your own stickers using label paper you can even find at 100-yen shops? First, print your favorite illustrations and roughly cut them out.
Then glue them onto label paper.
A glue stick is easier to use than liquid glue and is recommended! Finally, cut along the outline of the illustration with scissors, and you’re done.
By using the label paper boldly, you can also make larger stickers.
Or make lots of small ones, bundle them like flake stickers, and give them to friends as a lovely gift!
Adhesive & Paint: Squishy Transparent Stickers
Here’s an easy way to make squishy, transparent stickers using wood glue and paint! It’s great for parent-child crafting, so give it a try.
Prepare a clear card case or a transparent plastic sheet, and draw your favorite designs with paint or water-based pens.
Next, before the drawing dries, brush glue over the top.
You can have fun customizing by mixing different sizes and colors, too! As it dries, the glue turns transparent and takes on a squishy texture.
It might also be fun to add more drawing after it has dried.
