Handmade teddy bear ideas. Easy and cute ways to make them (1–10)
You can make it without sewing! A small teddy bear

Let’s make a fluffy teddy bear with yarn! Since this method doesn’t require any sewing, kids can give it a try too.
Start by making the parts the same way you would make pom-poms.
Wrap yarn around your hand several times, and when it reaches the desired size, tie the center with another piece of yarn.
Cut through the looped sections, then trim with scissors to make them round.
For rounded areas like the face and ears, adjust by combining two pom-poms if needed.
Once the parts are ready, attach them with a hot glue gun.
Finally, neaten the overall shape and add the facial features to finish!
Sock bear you can make without a pattern
Why not try making a sock bear using socks? These days there are lots of cute sock patterns, so pick a design you like and give it a try.
Make use of the heel bulge and the rounded toe of the sock, and cut the parts in a way that minimizes sewing as much as possible.
By the way, it’s recommended to use the heel part for the bear’s bottom and nose.
That way, you can easily create a three-dimensional look.
Also, using socks with a different-colored heel will boost the style factor!

Flower bears are a popular get-well or gift choice for women—and you can actually make them by hand! All you have to do is glue on artificial flowers, so it’s super easy.
Store-bought versions can be pretty pricey, but most of the materials for this one can be found at a 100-yen shop, making it very cost-effective.
Give it a try! To make one, simply take large and small Styrofoam spheres and glue the flower heads of faux flowers onto them with no gaps.
If you want the bear to have eyes and a nose, prepare those parts as well.
Tie a ribbon around the neck for an extra-cute finish.

Duffy made with fluffy socks

Here’s an idea for making a teddy bear inspired by the popular character Duffy using fluffy socks.
If you make good use of the sock’s pouch-like shape, you can minimize the amount of sewing needed, so take advantage of that when crafting.
Another nice point is that the fluffy fabric hides slightly rough stitches, thanks to the raised fibers.
It’s an idea I’d love beginners to try.
If you carefully recreate the facial markings and the paw pads on the feet, you’ll really capture Duffy’s look!

How about making a mini-sized teddy bear by building a base with wool and felt, then felting yarn into it from above? Once you’ve made the base, you can use yarn for the body and poke in wool of your favorite color for the face, so it’s very simple! If the yarn is too thick, it may not felt in well, so please use yarn thickness that suits the base.
Once it’s finished, you can turn it into a keychain, use it as an accent on a bag, and more.
Adding beads around the bear would look adorable, too!
A cute mohair teddy bear

Mohair is popular for its long pile, silky feel, and beautiful sheen.
Let’s make a teddy bear using mohair.
This project has a few more pieces than usual, so if you’re not confident with sewing it may feel like a lot of steps, but the result is so cute that it’s worth a try.
Trace the pattern onto the fabric and cut out the pieces, then simply keep sewing them together.
Stuff the inside with filling.
Sew on special parts for the eyes, and embroider the nose and mouth.
Using a different color of embroidery thread for the nose than for the eyes and mouth will make it extra cute.

How about trying your hand at making a teddy bear out of pipe cleaners? It involves some delicate work, but it’s easy to turn into an accessory or keychain, so it makes a great gift.
First, bend and loop the pipe cleaners to form a bear shape.
If it’s tricky with your fingers, try using pliers.
Once the bear shape is done, color the eyes and nose areas, then attach eye parts and tie a ribbon around the neck to finish.
These days you can find pipe cleaners in many colors at 100-yen shops, so try making one with your favorite colors!
