cardboard plastic greenhouse

Let’s use cardboard to easily make a plastic greenhouse! First, cut off the lid of the cardboard box.
Then cut out the inner sections of the four side panels.
With that, the frame of your greenhouse is complete.
Cut open a plastic bag so it becomes a single sheet, and attach it to the inside of the side panels with double-sided tape.
Do the same for the lid: create a frame and stretch plastic over it.
Install an electric anchor (heater) on the bottom of the box, place your plant inside, and close the lid to finish.
Be sure to make a hole for the cord to pass through.
Vinyl greenhouse for balcony

Let’s try making a greenhouse you can use on your balcony.
Build the frame by securing wire grids—available at 100-yen shops—with zip ties.
For the ceiling, attach resin poles bent into arches.
Next, attach film to the frame, fastening it with tunnel clips as you go.
Fix tension rods to the edges of the side films so you can open and close the greenhouse.
If you put rods on both sides, they’ll also act as weights and help with wind resistance.
PP case house

Let’s try making a simple house using PP sheets.
It’s not exactly a vinyl greenhouse, but since you’ll use a PP sheet as the roof, it can provide shade and keep off the rain.
First, build shelves using anti-tip shelf bars and poles sold at 100-yen shops.
Make as many shelves as you like.
Once the shelves are done, punch holes in both ends of a PP sheet and fasten it to the top anti-tip shelf with zip ties.
Trim the excess ends of the zip ties, and your PP sheet house is complete!

Mini greenhouse

Here’s a recommended idea for those who want to build a small greenhouse outdoors.
First, fasten arch pipes and straight pipes together with hooks to create the frame.
Once the frame is ready, cover it with insect netting, and then lay plastic sheeting over that.
Use agricultural PO film or agricultural vinyl (PVC).
It’s up to you which to choose, but PO film is easier to handle and more durable.
Use packers (clips) to secure the plastic to the pipes.
If you want to prevent the greenhouse from blowing away in a typhoon, run ropes over the greenhouse and anchor them to the ground with hooks.
Hollow polycarbonate greenhouse

Hollow polycarbonate is a panel made by combining two sheets of polycarbonate, with a cross-section that has hollow chambers like corrugated cardboard.
Because the air layer is retained in those hollow sections, it has excellent insulation and is even used as a simple interior window material.
Using this hollow polycarbonate, you can easily build a greenhouse.
Cut the hollow polycarbonate to the required size, assemble it into a box shape, and bond it using modified silicone for caulking.
Using modified silicone will improve both airtightness and strength.
You can find all the materials at a home center, so try making one sized to fit your own garden.
Greenhouse for succulents

Here are some ideas for a vinyl greenhouse that can help overwinter succulents that are sensitive to the cold.
This version uses a wooden frame.
If you don’t like the natural wood color, feel free to paint it.
Once the frame is built, attach zip ties and clips to the frame, then drape horticultural plastic over it.
Secure the plastic with the clips.
If you’re worried about it blowing away in the wind, it’s best to fasten the plastic firmly to the wood.
Dome-shaped greenhouse

Here’s an idea for building a dome-shaped greenhouse using a HUBS kit.
HUBS are connector parts for building domes.
That means you’ll need to source the wooden struts for the dome frame yourself, so keep that in mind.
Once you have the lumber, assemble it together with the HUBS kit.
Place a weighted base, then build the dome on top of it.
After the dome is assembled, run ropes over the top, press it down firmly, and secure it to the base.
Finally, cover it with plastic sheeting, fasten it in place, and add a zipper at the entrance to finish.
