SCANNERhide

A track included on the 1994 album “HIDE YOUR FACE.” It combines a heavy, imposing sound with a driving sense of speed.

This is a live performance, and the shout at the end really hits home.

There’s also a version of this song featuring a duet with Ryuichi Kawamura from LUNA SEA.

Be sure to check that out too!

LASSIEhide

It seems to be themed around Lassie the dog, but it’s a really cool, rockin’ number.

It even includes dog imitations, making it a fun listen.

Still, the lyrics are hardly someone else’s business (someone else’s dog’s business?)—they really hit hard.

I’d love to shout together at a live show, “Lassie, Lassie, Lassi-lassi-laa!” This track is included on the album PSYENCE.

If you don’t do anything, tomorrow will be just like yesterday.hide

If you don’t do anything, tomorrow will be just like yesterday.hide

Even on days that feel painful and heavy, it’s enough to try to change things, even just a little; if you don’t, today and tomorrow will be the same, and you won’t move forward.

That’s what hide-san is saying, isn’t he? The hardest part is the first step.

But once you take it, tomorrow becomes a new day, different from today.

It really gives you courage when you’re hesitating and standing still, doesn’t it?

Give it everything you’ve got—you’re not going to die.hide

These are the words of HIDE, who was active as the guitarist of X JAPAN from 1987 to 1997.

It’s said that he struggled with complexes as a child, and perhaps he wanted to convey that if you try your hardest, you can make things work out.

The same person who made such statements sadly met an untimely death in 1998—whether it was suicide or an accident remains unclear.

BACTERIAhide

A track with a full-on heavy rock vibe from the album PSYENCE, released in September 1996.

The guitar riffs, the vocals, the singing—hide himself—is aggressive, and the music video is just insanely cool.

It’s one of my personal favorites.

I’m sure this kind of hide’s coolness will resonate with the younger generation today—highly recommended.

Hi – Hohide

Released in December of the same year as a re-cut single and the seventh single from the album PSYENCE, which came out in September 1996, it was issued as “Hi-Ho / GOOD BYE.” This mid-tempo, pop-leaning track—so characteristic of hide—helped reshape the image of visual kei rock, which had once been associated with a heavier sound.

Why not let its relaxed, happy lyrics, perfectly matched to the tune, make your heart dance?
