Microsoft Quiz

Microsoft, founded by Bill Gates, is the company that spread Windows PCs—now indispensable in modern life—around the world.
Like Apple and Google, it brings together brilliant minds from across the globe, and many Japanese people dream of joining the company.
One challenge we’d like you to try is Microsoft’s entrance exam—a notoriously difficult problem said to have stumped top talents from all over the world who came to take it.
Give it a shot!
Magical Brain Quiz

One of the most popular quiz types is the “Aru-nashi” quiz.
Some are easy to figure out, while others leave you stumped and your mind goes completely blank.
The Aru-nashi quizzes introduced here are designed so that, as time passes, new words and hints are gradually added.
Along with that, a number called the Brain Index steadily decreases.
In other words, the fewer hints you need to answer, the higher your Brain Index score will be! Having a Brain Index also adds a bit of excitement when everyone plays together!
What is the capital of the countries of the world?

There are many countries in the world.
Japan recognizes 195 countries alone, and it’s said that this number may increase in the future.
Even just memorizing country names is tough, so trying to learn all their capitals might be even harder.
However, learning them could boost our interest in other countries.
It might be easier to remember them in a quiz format.
By learning the capitals and getting to know each country’s atmosphere and culture, I hope people will become more internationally minded.
Which museum in Ueno has been registered as a World Heritage Site?

A World Heritage site is said to be an irreplaceable treasure born from the formation of the Earth and the history of humankind, passed down from the past to the present, and a shared heritage that people around the world must protect.
Among such World Heritage sites, here’s a slightly unusual one: the National Museum of Western Art.
It was inscribed as a World Heritage site as one of Le Corbusier’s architectural works.
This is a great opportunity to rediscover the beauty of the museum as a building.
It also sounds fun to stroll around and see the buildings he designed.
Which Buddhist statue at Kōryū-ji in Kyoto is one of Japan’s first National Treasures (No. 1)?

The wooden Maitreya Bodhisattva in contemplative pose from the Asuka period at Koryu-ji in Kyoto is a Buddhist statue that was designated as National Treasure No.
1.
Many people are probably familiar with this statue, which was featured on old postage stamps and the like.
The actual statue is 125 centimeters tall—smaller than you might expect—but it exudes an indescribably noble presence.
I highly recommend seeing it on a school trip.
Kyoto is home to many wonderful cultural properties, and taking this opportunity to explore them may enrich your life.
Japanese History Quiz

Here’s a Japanese history quiz you can use for tests and entrance exam study.
It’s a multiple-choice quiz where you pick the correct answer from three options, serving up Japan-history questions at a lively pace.
Studying for history exams involves memorizing a lot, right? But mindlessly cramming can be exhausting, and it can become so routine that nothing sticks.
In times like that, learning while having fun with a quiz format is highly recommended! It’s also great as a way to refresh your mind.
What is the highest mountain on Mars?

Speaking of Mars, it is a planet in the solar system next to Earth.
People used to say that jellyfish-like Martians lived there, but research has advanced in recent years.
Mars is red due to iron oxide.
There are volcanoes on Mars, and the tallest, Olympus Mons, is said to be 27 kilometers high, making it the largest volcano in the solar system.
It is also said to have the largest canyon in the solar system.
Mars, where the atmosphere and water are believed to have existed in the past, never ceases to fascinate.
What fraction of Shiga Prefecture’s area does Lake Biwa occupy?

Lake Biwa, known as Japan’s largest freshwater lake.
Because its shape and area are said to be very similar to Awaji Island, there are various legends about it.
Although Lake Biwa looks very large, it actually occupies only one-sixth of Shiga Prefecture’s area.
A post on Twitter that placed the last wedge of a six-piece cheese in the center of its container to represent Lake Biwa became a topic of conversation, and it’s true that when something is in the center, it feels bigger.
As a quiz, this is something that stumps everyone, and if you don’t know the facts, you’re likely to overestimate its size.
Youth Common Sense Quiz

Equipping yourself with general common sense also leads to smoother communication with those around you, doesn’t it? This quiz focuses on the kind of common knowledge that young people in particular should know, serving as a chance to build that common sense.
You can examine whether each piece of “common sense” is actually correct, and also explore how much you might be out of step with society—or whether you still count as a young person.
Don’t just look at the answers; learn the surrounding context as well, such as what sparked certain trends and the information circulating around them.
Difficult Kanji Quiz

There are all kinds of kanji—some you learn in class and others you won’t master unless you look them up yourself.
This quiz focuses on those many types of kanji, especially the ones known as difficult-to-read.
Some are hard to read on their own, while others become tricky in combination, so it really tests your broad knowledge of kanji.
It’s recommended to use hints about how each kanji is read, and if that doesn’t help, use the readings of the components that make up the kanji as clues.
You might come up with the answer from a rough sense of how it should be read.
