Japanese hit songs of 2006 (21–30)
BLUE BIRDHamasaki Ayumi

I really got hooked on this song.
I love the lyrics in the chorus toward the end, and I often get emotional when I sing that part.
Back then, when I went to karaoke with friends, a lot of people would sing this, and I’d even get requests from my friends to sing it! (lol)
Born to beHamasaki Ayumi

I used to be really into this song back then, but I haven’t listened to it much lately.
I remember thinking it felt like a rare kind of track for Ayu.
The chorus is cool though! (lol) It’s the kind of song that’s nice just to listen to, you know? (lol)
Hold me, señoritaYamashita Tomohisa

This song was the theme for the movie he starred in.
I was really into it back then too—I even learned the choreography for the chorus and sang along (lol).
The lyrics, the melody, and he himself were all so sexy, and everyone loved this song.
My friends and I even danced to it together at karaoke.
impulseB’z

As a theme song for Detective Conan, it really makes you think, “That’s B’z for you” (lol).
I love the Conan and B’z pairing, so when I first heard it, I was moved.
I only really got the chorus at first, but listening again, the lyrics are indeed cool too.
RedemptionGACKT

As expected of Gackt—it really feels like a song that’s so him.
He was often impersonated on impression shows, and his quirky, stylistic music videos are always a must-see (lol).
Even when you keep watching him, you never get bored of his music, and he’s just cool.
See you againSEAMO

I remember listening to this song over and over, too.
I’d completely forgotten about it since back then, but I think it has a beautiful melody.
The lyrics are expressed quite straightforwardly, and I feel like I know it because it was the theme song for something, but I’ve forgotten what it was (lol).
PreciousItō Yuna

It’s a beautiful song and I think it’s good, but I’ve never seriously listened to it from start to finish, so I only knew the chorus—and even then, only part of it (lol).
It’s the kind of song where the melody is a bit hard to grasp, so unless you really listen to it a lot, it’s tough to sing.
