Hifumin, a.k.a.

Hifumi Kato, who now appears on TV almost daily as a legend of the shogi world, shares a similar nickname with Fumio Otsuka, a master of folk music who is known in the folk scene as “Fumin.” In the song Aizu-Bandaisan, the mountain is praised as a “treasure mountain” because it used to be an iron-producing area.

Later, an eruption created the Goshikinuma (Five-Colored Ponds) and brought forth hot springs—truly making it a treasure mountain.

It was the theme song for Koichiro Suzuki’s “Ii Yu Dana,” a popular segment on Fukushima TV’s ‘Sata-fuku.’ It gives the feeling of seriously enjoying hot springs—soothing fatigue, memories of hot springs, and more.

Yufuin, one of Japan’s top two hot spring destinations, became instantly famous through a video.

It was called the “Yuenchi (Hot Spring Amusement Park) Project.” The idea was to create a video showing an entire amusement park turned into hot springs and make it a reality if the video surpassed one million views—a bold concept that actually came true after exceeding one million.

It looks like so much fun.

Travel Lodgeyoshida takurou

I imagine a young couple at a rustic hot spring inn.

Maybe it’s because it feels different from the distinctly folk-like style up to that point, but Takuro’s melancholy singing voice makes it seem like watching a scene from a drama.

The harmonica resonates all the more effectively.
