Playing GodPolyphia

Polyphia are a four-piece from Texas who channel influences from genres like progressive metal and djent, crafting high-quality guitar instrumental masterpieces born from a band ensemble backed by overwhelming technique and impeccable taste.
With each release, their sound has evolved to flexibly incorporate elements not only of metal but also math rock and EDM.
Thanks in part to their sharp looks, they’ve amassed many fans beyond the metal scene, and in May 2022 they dropped their long-awaited new single, “Playing God.” Featuring exclusively clean guitar tones, the track dives into a uniquely Polyphia instrumental sound that fuses passionate, percussive riffs imbued with flamenco flavor and rhythms that ebb and flow at will—pushing them into a truly one-of-a-kind realm.
Those who loved their early, more metallic sound may feel a bit disoriented, but as they approach their music with flexibility while maintaining a rigorous aesthetic at their core, it’s exciting to imagine where they’ll go next.
Let’s listen to this track and look forward to what’s to come!
