Fold back one of the cords to a width of 7 cm, then wrap and tie the lower part of the finding with cord to secure it.

Braid the dangling cords to form a chain with a floral pattern.

Finally, attach another finding, tie it in place with cord, and you’re done.

[Chirimen] Crane Strap

Here’s an idea for making a crane strap using chirimen fabric.

Fold a crane from a square piece of chirimen.

The folding steps are the same as when you make it with origami paper.

Unlike paper, chirimen tends to spring back after folding, so secure the folds with glue as you go.

Once folded, insert a T-pin from the bottom of the crane, thread on a bead, and curl the tip of the pin.

Then just attach a strap to the end of the T-pin.

It’s very easy, so try making one with your favorite patterned chirimen fabric.

[Nordic Fabric] Owl Strap

The mascot strap of an owl with adorably round eyes may look difficult when you see the finished piece, but you can actually make it by hand! Cut your chosen fabric into two rice-ball shapes, one large and one small, and sew around the edges.

By sewing together the same shapes in different sizes, it naturally forms a nice three-dimensional shape! Once you’ve sewn partway around, stuff it with cotton, and after sewing it closed, the owl base is done.

Then just shape it, sew on the facial features and the strap parts, and it’s complete.

Choosing fabric combinations sounds fun, too.
