A band featuring vocalist Madoka Yoshida, who is also active as an actress.
The bittersweet chord progressions and hook-filled melodies evoke the feeling of youth.
The detailed depictions of mental landscapes that conjure classrooms and pools are impressive.
Listening with headphones lets you fully immerse yourself in the song’s world.

Tancobuchin is a band formed in 2007 in Karatsu City, Saga Prefecture, by six sixth-grade elementary school students at the time.

A track that captures the sparkle of youth in sound, exquisitely blending a translucent vocal with a powerful, driving band.
It strikes the listener’s heart with force, and its lyrics—filled with down-to-earth emotions—stir both memories and hopes for the future.
At once nostalgic and fresh, this song embodies the essence of a girls’ band, and once you hear it, its melody will linger in your mind.
Released in July 2023, it’s included on the album “Midnight Surcharge: Twenty Percent More.” The balance of feminine delicacy and performance prowess that rivals any male counterpart has become a hot topic among music enthusiasts.
jellyfishchakura

Formed in 2022 in Hachioji—a veritable holy ground that has produced prominent rock bands like Maximum the Hormone, Good Morning America, and TOTALFAT—Chakura is a four-piece girls’ band currently attracting attention on the music scene.
Calling themselves a “headlong girls’ band,” their song Kurage, which also marks the band’s first-ever music video, stands out as a masterpiece distinguished by delicate lyricism and a heartrending melody.
The vocals are striking as well, conveying uncontrollable emotion with a restrained, matter-of-fact delivery that captured the hearts of sharp-eared music fans.
The arrangement’s incorporation of a danceable beat that gives it an infectious groove is another clever touch.
Airfuyu no dōbutsuen

Although they’re called a girls’ band, they’re a mysterious group that performs as an air band.
They were formed by selecting members with a focus on looks, and they amusingly call their producer the “principal,” making for a very quirky concept—but their songs are solid, and their live videos are entertaining too.

You’re instantly captivated by the light guitar backing, supple bass, and drum intro.
Let me introduce “Kankei no Nai Hito,” a track released exclusively for digital distribution in 2019 by Kaneyori Masaru, a girls’ band from Osaka formed in 2014 who made their major-label debut in 2023 after a long indie run.
The title alone might sound a bit dismissive, but it’s a song that’s very much in their style, portraying in down-to-earth words the frustrating feeling of not being able to forget someone—even as you call them a “person who has nothing to do with me” after a breakup.
If you’re looking for a song that’s both sweet and heartrending, be sure to give it a listen!
