A must-hear collection of classic tracks for fans of Japanese reggae—“Japa-reggae.”
This includes reggae-influenced pop that was popular in Jamaica from the 1960s to the 1980s, and the evolution into dancehall reggae, which helped take root in Japan thanks to RANKIN TAXI—often called the father of Japanese reggae—continuing his Kansai radio program “Natty Jamaica.”
Today, it’s loved as a culture that transcends time and borders.
Reggae’s open, liberating vibe and its powerful, positive musicality are truly uplifting to listen to!
Tune in with an ear for songs that wish for a bright future and celebrate everyday life.

Hello TomorrowBIG BEAR

BIG BEAR and TAK-Z have uniquely soothing voices.
With reggae, it’s not about sheer vocal prowess—the soulfulness that seems to convey the singer’s character through their voice really sinks in.
This track, included on the compilation of Japanese reggae SOUTH YAAD MUZIK COMPILATION VOL.8, is a positive song that, when you listen to it relaxed, somehow fills you with new energy.
A must-hear message to your future self!
Ah, summer vacation.Kotobukikun

DJ Kotobukikun, who keeps dropping big tunes with his catchy musical style.
On ZUM ZUM Channel he said calling him just “Kotobukikun” is fine, but out of respect, I’ll add the honorific “-san” this time (lol).
Among Kotobukikun-san’s works, the one I especially recommend is “Aa Natsuyasumi.” This cover of TUBE’s classic has been arranged to lift the original’s vibes even higher.
The reggae dance is also a highlight, so be sure to check out the music video.
SEASON IN SUMMERKotobuki-kun & GUN HYPE & BAD JUSTICE

Kotobuki-kun, GUN HYPE, and BAD JUSTICE command a solid presence on Japan’s reggae scene.
The track they weave—like summer itself turned into sound—grabs listeners’ hearts in an instant.
Surrendering to music with friends on the beach and enjoying the party from the bottom of your heart—those radiant summer moments and overflowing exhilaration are vividly portrayed through unadorned lyrics and energetic vocals.
Released back in April 2015, this song is still beloved as a summer staple and stands as a signature piece from the early stage of Kotobuki-kun’s career.
It’s also featured on the compilation “Natsu Reggae Special!” and the album “RESPECT FOR LIFE.” Whether it’s a sunny-day drive or a BBQ with friends, it’s sure to make the experience even more exhilarating.
After the early-summer rainONEGRAM

ONEGRAM’s richly layered track deftly weaves elements of soul, disco, and city pop into the mellow essence of lovers rock.
Its straightforward, heartfelt lyrics blend seamlessly with a groovy sound, balancing urban sophistication with warm expressiveness.
Released as a 7-inch vinyl by Flower Records in June 2024, it features a funky disco-reggae cover of “It’s Just Begun” on the B-side.
The same month saw the release of the album “THIS IS US,” which drew attention for further deepening the band’s musicality.
With its inviting groove and urbane mellowness, this piece is perfect for a calm night drive or a relaxing moment—and it’s also a great choice to color special times with someone important.
time a slow feat.CHEHONLIFESTYLE

A captivating track with a soothing reggae rhythm and a sound that conjures up the image of time flowing gently.
Featuring CHEHON, this piece cherishes the “slow time” that stretches from waking up in the morning into the night, painting a positive picture of the sense of freedom and dreams found in everyday life.
Released in August 2023 as a collaboration between LIFESTYLE and CHEHON, the single follows LIFESTYLE’s high-quality mix works such as the album “ONE SCENE – ALL JAPANESE DUB MIX–.” It’s perfect for a relaxed summer drive or BBQ—listen while feeling a pleasant breeze, and it’s sure to lift your spirits even more!
