The band was born from people who love Japan’s The SKA FLAMES and the UK’s BAD MANNERS, and the ambiguity around their formation date might itself be one of the band’s characteristics.

SKA FREAKS was formed in Shiga Prefecture in 2003.

One of their biggest draws is their aggressive, ska-based sound—Syusaku’s vocals have a distinctive wavering quality, and the music hits fast and heavy.

Another hallmark of the band is their many short songs, which deliver concise, concentrated messages.

Since 2016, they’ve also hosted the Hokukōmi FREAKY JAMMiN’ festival in Maibara, Shiga, embodying a deep love for both ska and their home region of Shiga.

Muramasa☆ is a ska band formed in 2001.

Their biggest appeal lies in their pop-leaning musicality, epitomized by vocalist Yumi’s singing.

While they possess the solid chops of a ska band, they also enjoyed idol-like popularity.

Although they were an indie band from Osaka, they made memorable appearances on nationwide TV shows, and even as the number of ska bands grew at the time, they commanded overwhelming popularity.

They disbanded in 2009 to much regret, but each member has gone on to new ventures, including joining other ska bands.

They can be considered a band that embodied bright, fun ska and left their mark on the history of ska punk.

A major hallmark of the group is their advocacy of a unique genre they call “skaotic,” which fuses ska with chaotic elements.

Each instrument is played with fierce aggression, creating a technical, high-energy sound.

Alongside a thick, powerful sonic wall, the vocals are marked by an aggressive drive that feels like it energizes you from the core.
