The allure of surf music: a supreme healing space beckoned by the sounds of the sea (1–10)
Surf TimeHirai Dai

A classic of Hawaiian surf music wrapped in the sound of waves and a soothing ukulele melody.
Featured on the 2011 debut album “OHANA,” this piece is one of Dai Hirai’s signature works, imbued with his deep love for surf culture.
Its lyrics, themed around a yearning for tropical islands and the freedom of the surfing life, leave a strong impression.
With vivid scenes that weave in Hawaiian place names, it instantly transports listeners to a sunny, southern beach.
It’s the perfect track for relaxing by the seaside or resetting your mind away from the noise of everyday life.
slow&easyHirai Dai

Surrender yourself to the gentle rhythm of the waves and feel the healing that wells up from deep within—this is an exquisite track.
Dai Hirai’s message about “the importance of living at your own pace without rushing” seeps into the heart along with the tender tones of the acoustic guitar.
From blissful moments spent by the sea with a lover to the bittersweetness of gazing at the ocean alone, it carefully sings of life’s many emotions, carrying a universality that resonates with each listener’s own experiences.
Beloved as the title track of the 2015 album “Slow & Easy” and also featured in a Sumitomo Forestry commercial, this piece offers modern listeners—so easily swept up in the busyness of daily life—a rare chance to pause and reflect on themselves.

Keisuke Kuwata’s sixth single, released on July 4, 2001.
It became his first million-selling single as a solo artist.
It won Song of the Year at the 16th Japan Gold Disc Awards.
A summer love song with a surfing theme and a thrilling, fast-paced feel.
deep seaAwesome City Club

A gemlike ballad centered on the theme of parting, this track beautifully blends atagi’s powerful vocals with PORIN’s delicate melodic lines.
With sound production by KOHD, it achieves a calm, deep-sea-like sonic image with rich depth, resulting in a work that conveys a sense of hope even within sorrow.
Released as a single in May 2025, it was created as the second installment in a series of ten consecutive releases commemorating the 10th anniversary of Awesome City Club’s debut.
Give this track a listen and immerse yourself in its oceanic depths.
On the ShoreDef Tech

This commemorative track was released to mark the 20th anniversary of their debut.
Dropped in May 2025, the song serves as the lead single from the album “4ELEMENTS.” It carries a message of finding the courage to look inward in nature and move forward again when faced with disagreements or difficulties in understanding.
The sound of waves and the rhythms of nature blend with the melody to offer a soothing sense of calm.
Accompanying this release, a nationwide tour is scheduled to begin in August 2025, kicking off at Osaka-jo Outdoor Music Hall and stopping in cities across Japan.
It’s a highly recommended track for anyone grappling with life’s uncertainties or seeking the healing power of nature through surf music.
Midsummer MomentRYUSENKEI

A mellow sound that evokes summer memories, where the warm resonance of the Rhodes piano intertwines exquisitely with Sincere’s translucent vocals.
Released as a single in May 2025, the track encapsulates the charm of the reborn RYUSENKEI by Kunimond Takiguchi and Sincere.
It comes in two formats: digital distribution and a strictly limited 7-inch vinyl.

My WayDef Tech

I think it’s a song everyone has heard before.
Def Tech’s “My Way” is a classic of surf music, isn’t it? With Shen from Hawaii and Micro from Japan, their J-pop that carries a cool, Western vibe has captured many hearts.
The name Def Tech is said to mean “super cool technique” and also “not showing off technique,” and it was apparently named by JESSY from RIZE.
Although they disbanded for a time, they resumed activities three years later, and when Def Tech returned to live shows and festivals, it was a big moment.
