[In 2 Minutes] Simple and Cute! 5 Types of Summer Origami
Easy origami you can do in 2 minutes

Let me introduce a few types of easy and cute origami.

First, a watermelon: glue a red sheet and a green sheet of origami paper together, then fold.

Draw the seeds with a felt-tip pen and it’s done.

Shaved ice uses a folding method quite similar to a paper cup.

Draw the syrup with a felt-tip pen to finish.

Lanterns, cicadas, ice cream, and other simple summer-themed origami are sure to lift your spirits just by folding them.

They also look lovely when you stick them on walls or glass windows to create a seasonal atmosphere.

tadpole

tadpole

The cute, round black tadpole is perfect for a rainy-season craft.

Since you make it by dividing a single sheet of origami paper into four, it’s also great when you want to incorporate scissor practice.

The steps are simple and few, so children who pick things up quickly will probably be able to make it smoothly without looking at the example by the time they’re on their fourth one.

As you ask the children, “How do you think a tadpole becomes a frog?” you can share the stages of a tadpole growing into a frog and use the craft to deepen their interest in living things and nature.

cherry (sweet cherry; cherry fruit)

How about making some cherries, which are in season around June? Use red origami paper to make the cherry fruits.

You can make two cherries from one sheet, or just one fruit per sheet—either works.

Once the fruits are done, use green or brown origami paper to make the stems.

When both parts are ready, combine them with glue or tape to finish! If you like, try drawing faces on the cherries or using pink-toned paper instead of red for a fun variation.

Beer

Beer

The third Sunday in June is Father’s Day, right? For Father’s Day, how about making a beer out of origami for a dad who loves beer? Prepare a sheet of yellow origami paper and start folding.

Use the white back side of the paper to make the beer foam.

If you fold it into a shape with a handle, you’ll have a beer mug! Yellow is the typical color for beer, but using black origami paper to make a dark beer is also a great idea.

Match your dad’s preferences and make a cute origami beer!

toothbrush

In conjunction with Cavity Prevention Day on June 4, many nursery schools and kindergartens likely conduct dental checkups and teach children the importance of brushing their teeth and how to do it correctly.

Let’s incorporate toothbrushes into crafts as well to boost children’s interest in toothbrushing.

Choosing their favorite colors and patterns will make the activity even more enjoyable and increase their attachment to their creations—highly recommended.

Since there are steps involving cutting straight lines with scissors, even children who aren’t yet comfortable with scissors will find it easy to try.

Once the crafts are finished, it might be nice to practice brushing everyone’s teeth together to a song!

water lily

What are the flowers of the month for June? Easy origami water lily
water lily

The flower language of water lilies that bloom in June is “a pure heart.” It perfectly suits honest, adorable children, doesn’t it? How about making a three-dimensional water lily with origami? Raising the petals is a challenging step for children, so caregivers should repeatedly demonstrate and proceed at the children’s pace.

It would be great if the children could feel a sense of achievement and satisfaction by completing the difficult task.

They’re sure to be impressed when they see the realistic finished water lily! Another characteristic of water lilies is that they bloom on the water, such as in marshes and ponds, rather than on soil, so it’s also recommended to look them up in picture books or field guides, or go outside to observe them blooming in real life.

Frog

Origami Frog [Easy Folding Instructions] [Ages 3 and Up] [Rainy Season Craft]
Frog

This is an origami frog that even small children, such as those in the three-year-old class, can make.

It works well to start by reading a picture book featuring frogs or by discussing topics like “What animals are happy when it rains?” First, fold the paper into a triangle twice.

Next, open it once and bring the bottom corner to the center.

Fold the top half down, then fold the left and right corners to meet the bottom corner.

Next, fold both sides diagonally upward and fold the bottom corner up to the center; adjust the creases and the frog’s face is complete.

You can make the frog’s distinctive big round eyes nicely by using round stickers!
