[Kantai Collection BGM] KanColle’s famous and popular tracks (31–40)
Those who abhor warŌkoshi Kaori

This track opens with beautiful choral work.
It’s the boss battle BGM for E-4 in the event area “Interception! The Second Battle of Malaya,” which began in August 2016.
It’s a grand composition that fuses the timbre of strings with a hard rock sound.
Just listening to it gets you fired up! The chorus parts are sung by the composer herself, Kaori Ohkoshi.
Invitation to the Deep SeaŌkoshi Kaori

The BGM used during route battles and boss fights in the 2015 event “Operation Order No.
11.” With whispers like “Shizume, shizume” (Sink, sink) and “Koko made oide” (Come this far) woven between dark, heartrending melodies, the track exudes a decadent atmosphere.
Its melody is an arrangement of “Deep Sea’s Allure,” but it begins with an eerie chorus and then, driven by low bass and percussion, surges into an intense passage with fierce guitar and strings.
In the end, it shifts once more, growing quiet and closing with a music-box-like tone.
The I-class belowŌkoshi Kaori

This piece is an arrangement of the track “Naval Convoy Battle,” which was originally used on a different stage.
On the stage where “Naval Convoy Battle” plays, all enemies are submarines, whereas on the stage where “I-Boat Beneath Our Eyes” plays, you can’t even reach the boss unless you use a submarine yourself—highlighting a contrasting difference between the stages.
In “I-Boat Beneath Our Eyes,” a beautiful, grand orchestral sound is interwoven with bubbly, gurgling textures, creating a composition that truly evokes a submarine’s perspective.
Next round loaded, re-engaging!Ōkoshi Kaori

This track is called “Reload the Next Round, Re-Entry!” and was added in the February 2014 update.
You can hear it during boss battles on several stages.
The melody played with traditional Japanese instruments has a wonderfully mature tone, and the ending that finishes on a syncopation is incredibly cool! The driving snare drum throughout the piece also really heightens the sense of facing a boss.
By the way, the title “Reload the Next Round, Re-Entry!” is apparently derived from the ‘next-round loading device’ attached to a torpedo tube, which is the original reference.
Battle of Nishimura’s FleetŌkoshi Kaori

This is the BGM for the boss battle in Event Area “Operation Sho-Go! Interception, the Battle of Leyte Gulf (Part 1)” E-4.
Its tense and dramatic composition fired up players as they headed into the boss fight.
Some listeners probably got goosebumps at Yamashiro’s line, “You’re in my way—out of the way!!” The composer is Kaori Ohkoshi, a Tokyo-born composer—who is also the same person as the Vocaloid producer kaoling.

Winter departure!Ōkoshi Kaori

This piece is the mid-battle theme from the “Interception! The Fog Fleet” collaboration event with Arpeggio of Blue Steel held in December 2013.
Overall, it’s arranged as a grand orchestral piece, yet it’s packed with playful touches that evoke Christmas, such as choral parts and the sound of bells.
Even so, the occasional powerful trumpet and the bass drum that sounds like a cannon remind you that you’re on the battlefield—keeping you entertained while sharpening your focus.
Clash! A Nighttime Artillery Battle!Ōkoshi Kaori

This track is the music that plays during the boss fight of the 2015 summer event “Counterattack! Second SN Operation.” It’s an up-tempo arrangement of “Iron Bottom Sound,” which plays during regular battles in the same area, and it’s a very cool, heavy rock-style piece.
However, the intro is incredibly ominous—almost to the point of madness.
Midway through, it takes on an industrial vibe, and the mixture of that with strings creates a strong sense of desolation.
In conclusion
We’ve showcased plenty of background music from the browser game “Kantai Collection -KanColle-,” but did you find a favorite track? From orchestral to rock styles, and from traditional Japanese flavors to enka-inspired pieces, they’re all incredibly cool! If you’ve actually played the game, you can really feel like an admiral, and the music alone is enough to get you pumped up! If you like KanColle’s music, be sure to check out works by Kaori Ōkoshi and Hiroshi Usami, who composed most of the soundtrack!
