Fun games for kids in Kansai. Recreational games (21–30)
Count applause
This is a recreational game where you advance and then decrease a count by repeatedly doing high-fives.
Once the high-five count reaches a certain number, you turn around and count back down to one, and finish with a big “Yay!” high-five together.
It’s a great icebreaker for kids to quickly warm up to each other.
cross-handed clap
It’s a simple recreational game where you just clap your hands with a snap as they cross.
The person crossing their hands can make it more interesting by using feints or deliberately shifting the rhythm.
This also trains concentration, as the player who has to respond will watch the movements more carefully.
Greenpeace
In some regions it’s also called Curry Rice; it’s a recreational game you play in rhythm.
The rule is that if your hands match in time with the beat, the person who declares it fastest wins.
It’s also fun for spectators, who can laugh at the quick declarations and won’t get bored, making it a great choice for kids.
Rock, paper (game of choosing ‘rock’ or ‘paper’)
This is a recreational game where you switch between a fist and an open hand in time with the “Change!” cue.
The actions are simple, but by increasing the speed you can induce mistakes and make it more fun.
Because the switching is directed by voice, it can be played with large groups—like a teacher and children.

The memories of playing with the neighborhood kids, totally absorbed in trying to score marbles of every color, still haven’t faded.
Even though I often got frustrated because I couldn’t hit the other marbles very well, there was always that one friend who was strangely good at it!
