Suddenly, but are you good at singing?

If you’re confident in your vocal skills, you’re probably looking for “songs that would be impressive to nail at karaoke,” right?

For men, that might mean tracks by artists known for distinctive low ranges, or on the flip side, songs that showcase soaring high tones, or pieces that call for a gritty rock vocal style.

In this article, we’ll introduce a curated list of “songs that are impressive if you can sing them,” perfect for people who are good singers!

We’ve divided our picks into four sections—editor’s top recommendations, songs for men, songs for women, and Western hits—so it should be easy to find at least one track you’ll want to try.

If you’re confident in your singing, definitely try the songs in this article and show off how cool you can be!

Cool songs (1–10) that are recommended for women to sing

I’m ProudKahara Tomomi

A masterpiece of self-affirmation from 1996 and one of Tomomi Kahala’s signature songs, featuring a powerful yet wistful melody and emotionally rich lyrics.

It vividly portrays a protagonist grappling with loneliness and anxiety who confronts herself and reexamines her identity through encounters with others.

Chosen as the song for a TBC commercial, it also led to an appearance at that year’s NHK Kōhaku Uta Gassen.

This legendary track reached No.

2 on the Oricon weekly chart and topped the annual karaoke rankings.

Though it’s a song that tests one’s vocal ability, it’s highly recommended for moments when you want to boost your confidence or take a new step forward.

SHINOBIREOL

SHINOBIREOL

Reol is a female singer-songwriter who has gained popularity with sharp electropop and electro-rock.

Her musical style has remained largely consistent throughout her career, and she continues to release tracks with a crisp, cool sound.

Among her works, the one I especially recommend is SHINOBI.

This piece leans more heavily into rock than her previous releases, featuring loud, hard vocal lines throughout.

The vocal range is wide and the rhythms are irregular, making it fairly challenging—but definitely worth a try.

GLAMOROUS SKYNakajima Mika

A powerful rock number known to the world as the theme song of the film NANA.

HYDE from L’Arc~en~Ciel composed and produced the track, while original creator Ai Yazawa penned the lyrics, resulting in a star-studded collaboration.

The longing for freedom, questions about monotonous daily life, and hopes for a radiant future are expressed through a glam rock sound and Mika Nakashima’s commanding vocals.

Since its release in August 2005, it topped the Oricon charts for two consecutive weeks and became the only single by a female artist to break into the annual top 10 that year.

Capturing the raw feelings of youth with a strong message, this song is also a karaoke staple—perfect for anyone who wants to sing their heart out and blow off some steam.

Cool Songs Women Will Look Awesome Singing (11–20)

INAZMANOMELON NOLEMON

INAZMANOMELON NOLEMON

It’s a signature song by the unit with lyrics and composition by Tsumiki and vocals by Miki Maria, released as a single on August 13, 2021.

It features a sharp, edgy rock sound and lyrics themed around lightning-like impact, and it’s also a fan favorite at live shows.

I love the rock vibe and lyrics of “INAZMA,” and I often sing it at karaoke! Because the tempo is fast, if you’re not used to the song you might struggle with breath timing and feel like you’re getting left behind, and the many onomatopoeic lines can trip up your tongue.

It’s best to get comfortable with the tempo before trying it at karaoke! Also, since it goes quite high, singing with a bit of extra energy helps your voice carry better—highly recommended!

IdentityMISAMO

TWICE is a K-pop idol group that enjoys immense popularity across Asia.

MISAMO is a unit formed by TWICE’s Japanese members Mina, Sana, and Momo.

They’ve already dropped several big tunes, but the one I especially recommend for its cool vibe is “Identity.” While MISAMO often stands out for their cuteness, this track leans more stylish.

A mixed voice comes in right before the chorus, so keep that in mind as you sing.

will-illTK from RIN TO SHITE SIGURE

TK from Ling tosite sigure 'will-ill' Music Video (TV Anime 15th Anniversary 'Code Geass: Lelouch of the Rebellion' Ending Theme)
will-illTK from RIN TO SHITE SIGURE

An emotional rock ballad where despair and beauty intertwine.

It’s the ending theme for the Code Geass: Lelouch of the Rebellion 15th anniversary rebroadcast project.

If you can pull it off at karaoke, it’s a song that lets your expressive power shine as if you’ve lived in the world of Code Geass! I’ve written a lot about TK’s appeal in my karaoke articles, but I even find his death growls beautiful.

In particular, “will-ill” is tough to learn to begin with, and I’m really struggling with it myself.

There are multiple sections with death growls, and compared to other songs, the tone of the growls is different, making it quite difficult to sing well.

In any case, focus on your vocal cords and try not to use your throat as much when you sing!

Awich – Are you serious? (Prod. Chaki Zulu) / The Queen of Villains: Ruthless Queen
Are you serious? (Prod. Chaki Zulu)Awich

Right now, Netflix’s drama “Queen of Villains” is the talk of pro wrestling fans across the country.

It’s a series where Yuriyan Retriever portrays the life of Dump Matsumoto, and its moving story has made it popular nationwide.

“Are you serious? (Prod.

Chaki Zulu)” was released by Awich as the theme song.

It’s not insanely fast, but it’s a rap packed with high-difficulty flows, so without a strong sense of groove, delivering it rhythmically would be tough.
