C.U.R.I.O.S.I.T.Y. feat. Paledusk and CHICO CARLITOONE OK ROCK

Speaking of Taka, the vocalist of ONE OK ROCK who continues to work globally not only in Japan but around the world, he’s also known for his powerful singing ability, effortlessly handling everything from a wide vocal range to shouts.
Many people admire Taka, but this time I’d like to introduce C.U.R.I.O.S.I.T.Y.
as a song with a high level of difficulty for karaoke.
It’s a track from the album DETOX, released in February 2025, and it’s shaped into an aggressive loud rock number featuring CHICO CARLITO, a rapper from Okinawa, and Paledusk, a band popular for their hybrid metalcore sound.
With all-English lyrics, the song busily jumps between restrained sections, high-pitched shouts, and melodic parts, and even requires rapping and growls.
So if Taka’s parts alone feel too tough, I recommend tackling it at karaoke with a few friends—especially those who are good at rap and growls!
Telecastic fake showRin to shite Shigure

A towering monument of post-hardcore where chaos and beauty collide! If you can pull this off at karaoke, you’ll become a performer who commands sonic-speed madness.
It’s blisteringly fast, with rapid-fire lyrics, odd time signatures, sharp switches between male and female twin vocals, and huge interval jumps.
It’s probably physically impossible to sing alone, so you’ll likely need a partner.
That said, there aren’t many people—of any gender—who can produce these kinds of voices… Of course, two women singing it is totally fine too! I have a great time singing it with my female vocal students in lessons.
In any case, it’s a stamina battle.
Crank your head voice and belt it out.
Your core strength matters, too.
Love SongGReeeeN

“Ai Uta” under the name GReeeeN.
Released in 2007, every new track they put out was a massive hit, and back then GReeeeN had the image of being the go-to group for high-pitched songs.
“Ai Uta” is a ballad that delivers a straightforward message of love powerfully in chest voice.
For karaoke, it’s perfect for honing mixed voice, emotional expression, and breathing technique.
Another hallmark of GReeeeN is that they sing almost entirely in chest voice without using falsetto, and they’re an exceptionally skilled vocal group.
Highly recommended for anyone who wants to seriously build their mixed voice! Lung capacity matters, but the key is keeping your body steady by focusing on the tanden (lower abdomen) and how you use your breath.
If you master quick, explosive inhales and exhales, you’ll gradually be able to hit higher notes too.
Try singing with the intention of projecting your voice far into the distance.
Mirror feat. Kosuke Saitoieiri reo

It was released for streaming on October 8, 2025, and was written as the theme song for the NTV Wednesday drama “ESCAPE: It Was Supposed to Be a Kidnapping.” It’s a collaboration between Leo Ieiri and Kosuke Saito, the guitarist-vocalist of UNISON SQUARE GARDEN and TenTwenty.
Despite the very high vocal range, both of their voices soar in the same register, and the result is truly beautiful.
It’s wonderful as a solo, of course, but if possible you’ll want to sing it as a male-female duet! That said, finding a man who can sing this high is no easy task…
When you sing it, try to focus on using your breath and producing a strong tone.
If you aim to resonate in your head while you phonate, you’ll gradually get closer to the right sound.
Core strength matters, too!
Before our feelings overlap…Hirai Ken

From the very beginning, Ken Hirai’s beautiful singing voice resonates in this song.
It’s a 2004 track that was used in a TOYOTA Corolla Fielder commercial and also served as the theme song for the Fuji TV drama “The Truth of Tsugumi Kuzushi.” The lyrics make it a ballad that feels both like singing and like speaking to someone, so it’s a song you can really get into and sing calmly.
I often point out Ken Hirai’s singing characteristics to my students, so please use them as a reference! First, while it’s memorable that he sings with his eyes closed, in reality, closing your eyes can cause unnecessary tension and make it harder to stay on pitch.
However, Hirai raises his eyebrows and uses his hand to track the pitch while he sings.
He compensates in other ways so that singing becomes more natural and easier.
This gesture also makes it much easier to produce falsetto, so definitely give it a try!
= (feat. YO_CO)BAK

Released in June 2022, this song is performed as a duet by BAK and YO_CO.
It beautifully showcases their call-and-response and overlapping vocals.
Since both singers primarily use head voice, it’s perfect for those who want to sing head-voice songs.
Because the range is on the higher side, be careful not to strain your throat.
When practicing, try singing with “h”-sounds to naturally release breath; this will make it easier to sing.
A particularly recommended method is to sing all the lyrics using “hi.” The “hi” sound makes humming easier and resonates in the head.
Start by pronouncing it lightly so that it resonates in your head rather than your throat.
Your breath will flow more naturally, and producing head voice will become easier.
Fantastic MagicTK from RIN TO SHITE SIGURE

A band known for many difficult high-tone phrases, TK from Ling tosite sigure.
While all of their works could be considered challenging, the one I especially recommend as a particularly tough piece is Fantastic Magic.
The hardest point of this song is, without a doubt, the chorus.
The range is mid1E to hiG#, which is still better compared to unravel, but almost the entire chorus sits at hiE or above.
Since the chorus is composed almost entirely of high-tone vocals, by the time you finish singing, the strain on your temples and throat will be immense—but I encourage you to give it a try.
