By preparing fun activities, you can create a sports day that both children and adults will enjoy.

Here, we’ll introduce a variety of events: those done cooperatively as a class, activities for younger children, and games that parents and children can participate in together!

All of them are ideas that motivate children and allow guardians to feel their children’s development.

A circuit where you role-play as a ninja

[3-year-olds] Ninja Training! ~Circuit Play~
A circuit where you role-play as a ninja

Nin-nin! Swift and stylish moves! Here are some circuit ideas for becoming a ninja.

Prepare a ninja transformation set made from construction paper, a balance beam, a jump rope, mats, and so on.

The video introduces circuit ideas for three-year-olds, but with a few tweaks, many of them can be uniquely adapted for two-year-olds as well! Let’s use the balance beam, jump rope, and mats to fully get into ninja mode.

Wearing a ninja dress-up set to boost the mood is a great idea, too.

Circuit to train the soles of the feet

Two Foot-Strengthening Activities: Foot Sole Circuit & Foot Art #Childcare #IndoorPlay
Circuit to train the soles of the feet

Sharpen your senses! Here are some circuit ideas to train the soles of the feet.

Prepare cone cushions, yarn, decorative balls, craft glue or tape, a glue gun, construction paper, cleaning sponges, and round stones.

Attach each material to the construction paper by type.

It’s also a good idea to use items found at your preschool or home, as well as recycled materials.

By feeling differences in texture and temperature with the bottoms of their feet while playing, and by walking over the materials to brace themselves and maintain balance, children can also improve their motor skills.

Kicking Sniper

Tried VS Arashi’s Kicking Sniper, part 2
Kicking Sniper

How about incorporating a “Kicking Sniper” event, modeled after soccer—one of the Olympic sports? In this game, you kick a ball at targets, and the person who knocks down the most wins.

You can use softer balls suited to the participants’ ages, and making the targets popular characters could add extra fun.

For infants, you might intentionally place the targets in an unstable way so they topple easily, while for preschoolers, adding mechanisms that make the targets move would make it even more exciting.

Give it a try together as a parent-child team!

Basketball ball-toss game

Basketball ball-toss game

Speaking of sports days, tamaire (ball toss) is a classic, right? It’s one of those long-loved events that anyone can enjoy, regardless of age.

This time, let’s adapt it by imagining it as the Olympic sport of basketball! For two-year-olds, a real basketball hoop or a tall ball-toss basket is probably out of reach.

That’s where parents come in! Try lifting your child up to the hoop for a shot, or letting them shoot while riding on your shoulders—it sounds like great fun! Of course, adjusting the goal height to suit the children will really boost the excitement, so feel free to customize it to match your class’s theme colors.

Card-flipping race

At the Fukui City nursery school sports day, parent-child event: Card Flip! Try this popular game together at the sports day!
Card-flipping race

Even small children who attend kindergarten or daycare can easily play “Card Flipping.” It’s a simple game where you keep flipping two-colored cards so that they show your team’s color.

At the signal to start, both teams begin flipping at the same time, so no matter how much you flip, the other team will keep flipping them back until time runs out.

If your cards are flipped back, you flip them to your team’s color again, repeating this process.

The team that has the most cards showing their color at the end wins.

It’s fun not only for the kids but also for parents to join in!

Parachute (paraballoon) performance

Parachute (paraballoon) performance

One of the most popular events at kindergarten and nursery school sports days is the parachute (paraballoon)! It’s a group performance using a single large round piece of fabric.

Everyone works together to inflate the parachute, spread it out, and march with it.

The movements and arrangements are endless.

When teachers join in, you can even do a move called the merry-go-round! The dynamic, colorful parachute is sure to create lasting memories for everyone.

Shuwa-shuwa Honey Lemon 350ml – Sharou

Make it with everyday materials! Here are some circuit course ideas using milk cartons.

All you need are milk cartons and tape.

After cutting the cartons, connect them using an accordion fold.

They can be used as lane dividers, and it’s also fun to incorporate them into activities by putting organza fabric or colorful balls inside the cartons.

For children with allergies, using juice or tea cartons instead of milk cartons is a safer option.

Give it a try!
