[For Kids] Sports Day Hairstyles That Work with Hats (21–30)
braided twin tails

These are cute braided twin tails that hold their shape well.
They’re an eye-catching hairstyle, but because they don’t fall apart easily—even under a hat or during lots of activity—they’re perfect for sports day.
On one side, start with a regular three-strand braid and then layer strands over from both sides for an outer French braid; on the other side, braid by crossing strands underneath for a Dutch braid.
The key is that you can enjoy two different vibes: the outer braid has a subtle, natural look with understated stitches, while the Dutch braid brings the braid to the surface for a bold, defined appearance.
braided bun

A cute, eye-catching bun that’s easy to make using only braids.
First, split your hair into two sections at the back.
If you tie them around the area behind your ears, it’s easier to wear a hat.
Next, braid each tied section into a three-strand braid.
Once you’ve braided down to the ends, coil the tips and secure them with an elastic.
Gently pull out and loosen the braided hair a little.
Coil each braid at the base to form a bun, secure it, and finish with a cute elastic or hair accessory.
If you work a bit of baby oil or hair wax into your hair at the start, it will be easier to manage.
twin braids
The twin braids with two crossed braids are a super stylish, secure look that won’t easily fall apart—highly recommended! First, divide your hair into three sections: front and back around each ear, and the center.
Braid the center section.
Next, bring the sections from both sides over the top of that braid and gather them together, then divide into three strands and continue braiding.
If you thoroughly brush your hair first and work in some oil to help it stay together, the styling will be easier and the finish will look even neater!
Heart hair

A heart-shaped hairstyle that even small children can do.
First, gather the hair at the back of the head, not too high, secure it with an elastic, and do a reverse topsy-tail.
Next, divide it into two sections and braid each one into a three-strand braid.
Then shape the two braids into a heart and fasten them with an elastic.
Finally, gather the remaining hair and tie it with an elastic to finish.
It holds more securely than it looks, so it’s fine even with big movements or when wearing a hat.
With the cute heart shape, your child is sure to be delighted!
Just tie it! Twin-tails

This is an easy, long-lasting hairstyle that just uses colorful hair ties.
Start by dividing the hair into two sections at the back.
Clip one side out of the way, and tie the top section of the other side with a hair tie.
It’s nice to use the most eye-catching, decorative tie for this first one.
Next, gather the hair at the temple area and tie it together with the section you just secured, using a colorful tie.
Continue repeating the same steps, moving gradually downward.
It’s also great that you can adjust the look by age—use colorful ties for little kids, and for older elementary-aged children, choose more mature colors like black or brown.
Braiding ribbons and fabric

A sports day hairstyle that even people who aren’t good at styling can try.
If you have bangs, tie them together with the hair in the middle and do a topsy tail.
Split the hair in the back into two sections and tie them near the area behind your ears.
The key is to tie them low so it’s easy to wear a hat.
Next, tie a piece of colorful fabric of your choice around the hair elastics.
Then divide the hair and the fabric into three sections and braid them together.
Finish by securing everything with an elastic, and you’ll have a bold, stylish hairstyle that really stands out at sports day!
Topsy tail half-up

A half-up-style hair arrangement that works not only for long hair but also for shorter cuts.
It’s great because all you need is the simple “topsy-tail” twist.
First, apply hair wax or oil evenly through your hair, then split it down the middle.
Take a small section about 1–2 cm from the center and secure it tightly with an elastic.
Loosen it slightly, do a topsy-tail (flip it through), then tighten it firmly—that’s the key.
Repeat this four times on each side for a total of eight sections, and you’re done.
Of course, three on each side (six sections) also works.
It’s a chic yet secure style that stays put and feels fresh.
