balloon art

Incorporating balloon art is sure to make children’s eyes light up.
They’ll be captivated by the many shapes that can be created from a single balloon.
Start with simple forms like dogs, swords, and flowers, and make them together with the children.
By gradually trying more complex shapes, you’ll also nurture their creativity.
They can take their finished creations home, which will surely make them happy.
Balloon art can be used in many situations, so we encourage teachers to give it a try.
Play: The Monkey and the Crab

This is a play based on the traditional folktale “The Battle of the Monkey and the Crab.” In addition to the monkey and the crab, characters like a chestnut and a bee also appear.
It’s a story about the crab and its friends fighting back after being tricked by the monkey, but when children perform it, it’s recommended to add creative twists, such as delivering unique lines or playing harmless pranks.
Wearing costumes to fully become each character and doing impressions will make it even more exciting.
It could also be fun to make the story end with the monkey and the crab reconciling.
Bingo game

When you think of a “bingo game,” you might picture a familiar party activity, but this version is perfect for performances by kindergarten-aged children.
Instead of the usual numbered bingo cards, prepare tiles with illustrations.
Each child creates their own bingo card by placing any picture tiles they like in the assigned squares.
When a picture is drawn that matches one on their card, they place a small game counter on that square.
If they complete a row with counters, it’s bingo! You can even make the cards and tiles by hand.
Paper Plate Theater

It’s like a handmade animation where the picture changes as you move the paper plate.
First, you show a silhouette illustration and have people guess what it is.
Then you gradually transform it until the true image is revealed.
The paper plate has slits cut into it, and you make the illustration appear by sliding it through those gaps.
By revealing the answer bit by bit and prompting them to respond as soon as they figure it out, you can encourage them to keep thinking carefully about what the illustration might be without giving up.
Dance “Abraham’s Children”

The children’s song “Abraham’s Children” has long been beloved.
The tune is an American folk song, and the familiar lyrics featuring the “seven children” seem to have been added in Japan.
It has a cheerful melody and simple choreography, but with each additional person, new movements are added to match the lyrics: right hand, left hand, right foot, left foot, head, and bottom.
It all wraps up neatly with a final “The end!” Because most of the lyrics and movements are repetitive, it’s a performance that even very young children can enjoy watching.

[Balloon Theater] What’s inside the present is…
![[Balloon Theater] What's inside the present is...](https://i.ytimg.com/vi/8ok-hgzh4Qg/sddefault.jpg)
The fluffy, cute balloon theater is so much fun! We’re introducing the idea for “What’s Inside the Present…”.
In the video it’s performed at a birthday event, but it’s also a fantastic idea for a school entrance ceremony! You’ll get to see children’s sparkling, adorable expressions as they wonder what’s inside the present box.
When you open the lid and the balloon starts to inflate bit by bit, the kids are guaranteed to get excited! Take this opportunity to give it a try.
Costume Dance “Jamboree Mickey”

If you want to create a lively atmosphere at the venue, a costume dance is also a great idea.
This involves choosing a theme—like anime characters or celebrities—dressing up accordingly, and performing a dance.
Start by picking the song you’ll perform, then plan the costumes from there.
For example, if you’re performing “Jamboree Mickey!” popular at Disneyland, you could dress up as Mickey Mouse and his friends.
Sneaking in someone with a quirky or unexpected costume could also get some laughs.
