With the recent K-POP boom, many of you may be curious about the Korean music scene, right?

In the hip-hop scene, it seems like the number of people gradually getting into Korean hip-hop is increasing, but when it comes to club music, there’s still a long way to go.

So, this time, I’d like to introduce some “famous DJs who represent Korea”!

DJ Soda, who often makes headlines in Japan as well.

People tend to say “Soda,” but the correct pronunciation is “Soda,” so please take note.

Public perception may be that she’s a DJ who courts controversy, but in fact, she’s one of the most mainstream DJs in South Korea.

While she isn’t exactly a traditionalist DJ, her original tracks are fairly well regarded.

Among them, “Shooting Star,” released in 2020, garnered high praise as a catchy and dramatic EDM track.

Hyoyeon, who gained popularity in Japan for a time as a member of Girls’ Generation, has always showcased an artistic presence with her advanced dance technique.

Recently, she has also been active as a DJ.

When performing as a DJ, she goes by the name HYO and has released several tracks to date.

For her original releases, she takes the format of producing the songs herself and singing them as well, revealing an artistic and stylish side of her that you can’t see in Girls’ Generation.

Early in his career, he was active as a solo singer.

He later worked as a composer for SM Entertainment, the largest label in Korea, and continues to do so today.

Thanks to his experience as both a vocalist and a composer, all of his tracks are highly regarded.

A piece that really showcases Hitchhiker’s appeal is “$10.” It’s crafted in the electropop style he excels at, making it easy to enjoy even for those who don’t usually listen to EDM.

DJ Miso is gaining popularity in South Korea’s hip-hop and R&B scene.

She’s active as a track maker and has collaborated with many artists, building a strong following.

Her biggest appeal is her stylish, Black music-inspired tracks.

A song that encapsulates her charm is “Take Me.” It’s crafted as a laid-back R&B tune, and you can also appreciate her impressive vocal technique, as she handles the vocals herself.

The pioneer said to have sparked this movement is Night Tempo, a leading DJ from Korea.

He’s the originator of the genre known as future funk and has produced numerous iconic city pop tracks, including his re-edit of Mariya Takeuchi’s “Plastic Love.” He continues to re-edit Japanese songs from the 1980s, so be sure to check out his work.
