Shizuka Kudo’s Famous and Popular Songs (31–40)
Blown by the yellow sandKudō Shizuka

Released on September 6, 1989.
Lyrics by Miyuki Nakajima.
It beautifully captures the longing and loneliness that come as the weather turns cold.
Songs by Miyuki Nakajima, such as “About Me” and “Passion,” are perfect for the season from autumn through the end of the year.
It reached No.
1 at its peak and sold 586,000 copies.
As the 1980s came to a close, the Showa-era music programs also came to an end, but this song took the top spot on the final episode of The Best Ten.
It has to be you.Kudō Shizuka

Released on October 6, 1993.
It’s a ballad, but with a bluesy feel unlike anything before.
Perhaps it’s similar to “Koe o Kikasete” from a year earlier.
It didn’t have the momentum from their breakout period, but it was a time when they were challenging themselves with various genres.
It peaked at No.
5 and sold 205,000 copies.
Ice RainKudō Shizuka

Released on November 18, 1994.
An even slower, more heartrending ballad than “I Want to Cry My Eyes Out.” It peaked at No.
8 and sold 414,000 copies.
There were many rain-themed songs from the late ’80s to the ’90s—Hideaki Tokunaga’s “Rainy Blue,” Chisato Moritaka’s “Ame,” ASKA’s “Hajimari wa Itsumo Ame,” Kyoko Koizumi’s “Yasashii Ame,” and so on.
She later released a song called “Amayo no Tsuki,” and Shizuka Kudo really suits moon and rain motifs.
PleaseKudō Shizuka

Released on May 15, 1991.
The lyrics follow the same line as before, portraying a strong, assertive woman who seeks various things, but the melody is more subdued.
Perhaps due to its weaker impact, it peaked at No.
1, yet sales were 191,000 copies.
It was no longer a given that releasing a single would guarantee strong sales.
Jaguar LineKudō Shizuka

Released on July 21, 1994.
A rock-oriented track that followed the direction pioneered by “Blue Rose.” It peaked at No.
8 and sold 244,000 copies.
Although it didn’t have the same momentum as at debut, it held its own amid the rise of Being-affiliated artists.
This year also drew attention with the revelation of a relationship with X JAPAN’s YOSHIKI.
