Surely, alwaysSano ibuki

Singer-songwriter Sano ibuki, who has gained popularity for his classic, straightforward musical style.

His hallmark is an unembellished sound, and he’s dropped numerous hit tunes so far, so many of you may already know him.

Among Sano ibuki’s songs, the one I especially recommend is Kitto Zutto.

The vocal range is within a typical span, and the vocal line is organized into a simple flow.

Every section features a very straightforward vocal line, so as long as you can control your pitch, you can definitely aim for a perfect score.

CreepHyp is a rock band with overwhelming support from young people.

While they have many orthodox, catchy songs, they also occasionally release eccentric tracks.

Their recently released “Nama-Reba” is exactly that kind of work, delivering a surreal take that throws a stone into the ban on raw liver.

From a musical standpoint, it leans a bit toward higher pitches, but the melody doesn’t fluctuate dramatically throughout.

There aren’t any obvious spots to rack up extra points either, so to put it another way, as long as you control your pitch, it’s a breeze.

Definitely consider adding it to your repertoire.

Spring Dayaimyon

Aimyon – Harunohi [OFFICIAL MUSIC VIDEO]
Spring Dayaimyon

One of my male students once sang “Harunohi” an octave lower, and I highly recommend it for men as well.

In this song, the verses (A and B sections) sit in the lower range, then the chorus jumps up into a higher range.

The highest note in the original is C#5, but the melody is very straightforward, so it should be relatively easy to stay on pitch.

Also, adding dynamics within the song will help boost your score, so try to build excitement from A-melody to B-melody to the chorus.

Stability matters for karaoke scoring, too.

Aim for 100 by focusing on fundamentals: sustain long notes precisely along the pitch bar, enter cleanly on the starting notes, and be mindful of your intonation throughout.

Give it a try!

Beat de TouhiHama iku

Hamaiku – Escape with the Beat [MV]
Beat de TouhiHama iku

Beat de Tohi, a song by Ryuichi Hamaya and Erika Ikuta, became a nationwide hit.

Performed on NHK’s special program Venue101 EXTRA, its comforting melody resonated across generations.

This piece is also among the easiest duet songs to sing.

From start to finish, Hamaya’s part sits in the low to mid range, while Ikuta’s part stays in the mid range, making it a duet that even those unsure about their range or volume can aim to score a perfect 100 with.

Marcy – Freesia (Official Music Video)

Marcy is a band that’s gaining popularity for its warm, gentle vocals.

Their recent momentum is remarkable, and they have overwhelming support especially from men and women in their teens to early twenties.

Among Marcy’s songs, the one I particularly recommend is “Freesia.” With a fundamentally orthodox and relaxed vocal line, it’s a very easy song to sing.

However, be aware that the chorus features falsetto several times.

That said, depending on key adjustment, these parts can be sung comfortably in chest voice, so they won’t be stumbling blocks.

Rather than focusing on the falsetto sections, it’s better to pay attention to the pitch differences between high and low notes when you sing.

A letter to meZukai

Zukai – A Letter to Me (Official Music Video)
A letter to meZukai

Zukai is a band that’s drawing particular attention in Japan’s indie rock scene.

They’re a group rooted in authentic indie rock, and their well-defined sound has earned them a devoted core following.

Among their songs, the one I especially recommend is “A Letter to Me.” It may sound high at first, but the actual vocal range is quite narrow, and it doesn’t require foundational techniques like vibrato or falls.

If you’re aiming for a perfect score, definitely add it to your repertoire.

The Summer Without YouDEEN

This is DEEN’s 12th single overall, released in August 1997.

It was also used as the fourth ending theme for the Nippon TV anime Detective Conan.

As you’d expect from DEEN, who scored a string of big hits in the ’90s when “being often sung at karaoke” was a key condition for a song to become a hit, this track is also crafted to be very easy to sing and remember.

To aim for a high score, you’ll likely need to study the vocalist’s subtle phrasing in detail, but there aren’t any difficult parts, so definitely give it a try.

If you place the resonance so the sound hits the upper palate inside your mouth, you can produce a voice with lots of high-order overtones—a slightly sparkling tone—similar to the original singer.
