Party Games That Liven Up Group Dates (21–30)
Speaking of ◯◯, games.

Prepare paper and pens and answer prompts like “What comes to mind when you hear XX?” For example, for “What comes to mind when you hear noodles?” you might say udon, soba, ramen, and so on.
You can have everyone aim for the same answer, or decide the winner by majority vote.
Even without paper and pens, you can just answer together on the count of three.
Aburi Karubi Game

This is a game where you repeatedly say the tricky phrase “aburi karubi” while doing a gesture.
You flutter your hand as if grilling short ribs, and on the second round you say it twice, on the third round three times, and so on, making it progressively harder to say.
Whoever stumbles or can’t say it loses.
The “ready, set, go” game

It’s a game you play using only your fingers.
I bet many of you have played it before.
Everyone stands in a circle and holds their clenched fists out in front.
At the cue “Ready, set, go!” the first person calls out a number.
On the cue, everyone either raises their thumb or doesn’t.
If the called number matches the total number of thumbs raised, that caller can lower one hand.
People who lower both hands are out, and whoever is left at the end loses and gets a penalty!
Umaibō Sommelier

This is a game where you guess the flavor of Umaibō.
Umaibō comes in an incredible variety of flavors—and they’re cheap! Perfect for parties! But just guessing as-is isn’t as fun, so you wear a blindfold and block your nose (with a clothespin or by pinching it) and try to guess the flavor.
It’s harder than you think!
Perfect Chu-Chu Game

Put a marker on each drink glass.
I think wrapping a rubber band around it works well.
Then, with everyone blindfolded, drink the beverage through a straw—the person who gets closest to their marker wins.
It gets lively if you prepare some fun, quirky eye masks like the ones you often see in the party goods section.
Quiz: Let’s Aim for the Sweet Spot!

“Quiz Ii Sen Ikimasho!” is perfect as a mind-game to spice up a group dating party.
The rule where the person closest to the average wins on number-based prompts is really fun.
It tests intuition and deduction more than knowledge, so everyone can enjoy it.
Because it also requires the strategy of reading others’ thoughts, it’s sure to get lively! You might even discover new sides of the players.
It’s a relaxed, easygoing game that’s perfect for creating a warm, friendly atmosphere at a mixer.
Gesture guessing game

It’s that game you often see on quiz shows.
You show the prompt to everyone except the guesser, and they have to figure it out from gestures alone.
Of course, no talking allowed.
Setting a time limit and a penalty makes it more exciting.
Even without paper and pen, you can just write and show the prompts on a smartphone!
