[Classic] Funny! Hilarious! A roundup of punishment games that will liven up the classroom

Many people enjoy playing games during school breaks, right?

But just deciding who wins and loses can lack excitement.

So how about setting a penalty for the loser?

With a penalty game, the thrill and tension ramp up, making the game more exciting and fun!

This time, we’ve gathered some penalty game ideas that will really liven things up at school—feel free to use them for inspiration.

From slightly embarrassing penalties to ones that make everyone laugh, they’re all easy to do.

Don’t force anyone—choose penalties that everyone can enjoy!

[Classic] Funny! Hilarious! A roundup of punishments that will liven up the school (1–10)

Change the sentence ending

Since Ryo almost never gets hit with a penalty game, we’re holding an “ending-particle” change roulette.
Change the sentence ending

As a slightly embarrassing penalty game, I’d like to suggest changing your sentence endings.

For example, you could add “gozaru” to sound like a samurai from the Edo period, or “nanoja” to sound like an aristocrat from the Heian period.

You could also imitate anime characters with distinctive sentence endings, such as Korosuke’s “nari” or Lum’s “daccha.” Before starting the game, decide which sentence ending to use and how long to keep it.

The longer the time, the tougher the penalty will be.

tickle tickle

Tokyo B Shonen: If you keep tickling for 10 minutes, do you stop feeling anything?
tickle tickle

It’s a simple but exciting tickling penalty game.

The person puts their hands together and raises them up, and everyone tickles them.

Decide how many seconds the tickling will last.

It’s a fun penalty game you can play anytime, and anyone who takes the penalty will end up laughing.

say an embarrassing line

I kept cranking out cringe-worthy history with a punishment game where I had to say embarrassing lines every time I died lol [Splatoon 2]
say an embarrassing line

How about a punishment game where shy people have to say embarrassing lines? Saying embarrassing lines in front of friends can really liven things up.

Since what counts as an embarrassing line can differ by gender, it might be good to prepare a few different kinds of lines.

change my persona

[Legendary Episode] We swapped members’ personalities for a meeting and the behind-the-scenes side of Comdot came out so much we couldn’t stop laughing lol
change my persona

How about a simple yet slightly embarrassing punishment game: a character switch? A “character switch” means fully acting like a completely different person from your usual self.

If someone is normally cool, have them play a cutesy, over-the-top character; if they’re the mood maker, have them stay completely silent.

You can come up with endless character ideas tailored to the person taking the punishment.

Seeing someone behave differently from their usual self is sure to get laughs.

Brainstorm some funny personas together and give it a try!

Punishment Game Roulette

I tried a punishment-game roulette on a whim, and then hell began…
Punishment Game Roulette

It’s a punishment-game roulette.

As the name suggests, every slot on the roulette is a punishment.

Take turns spinning the wheel and get tasks like “perform a one-shot gag,” “link arms with the people on both sides and sing a song,” “pick a partner and do an improvised amateur comedy routine,” “everyone flicks your forehead,” or “speak in baby talk for the next hour”—the kind of punishments you’d typically see on variety shows.

There’s only one winning slot, so decide in advance what happens if someone hits it, and enjoy the punishment games together.

butt-letter

[Speak With Your Butt] The 1st Butt-Character Championship [How Many Pecks?]
butt-letter

How about “butt writing”? Butt writing is when you move your hips to draw letters and convey a word.

If the word is short, it’s relatively easy to get the message across, but the longer it gets, the difficulty increases dramatically.

Prepare a word of moderate length and keep going until it’s understood.

By the way, katakana has fewer strokes, so it’s good for beginners; hiragana is a bit harder; and kanji is quite advanced.

The trick is to move your hips firmly and pay attention to brush-offs and stops.

Try it with that in mind.

Say your strengths

I tried turning Retort & Kiyo’s weaknesses into strengths.
Say your strengths

It’s pretty embarrassing to talk about your own strengths, isn’t it? How about turning that into a penalty game.

I think it would get really lively when a shy person ends up with this penalty.

Trying a silly joke with it could be fun, too.

Enters with an embarrassing greeting

Enters with an embarrassing greeting

A lot of people aren’t good at self-introductions, right? Some of you probably feel gloomy every time classes are reshuffled.

So how about making it a penalty game where the loser has to introduce themselves using an embarrassing greeting the winner comes up with? Have them step away from the group on purpose, then give a signal and let them make a grand entrance as the center of attention.

Any embarrassing greeting is fine, but don’t poke fun at the person’s looks or hobbies, okay? I recommend adding a cringey line before their name or changing their sentence endings to something embarrassing and having them give a straight-faced introduction.

Perform an original dance

[Punishment Game] Performing an original dance! Surprisingly into it!? #Shorts
Perform an original dance

This is a punishment game where the person has to perform an original dance in time with music or clapping.

Dance is something people of all ages enjoy these days—it’s even incorporated into classes—but when someone suddenly says, “Come up with choreography and dance!” it can be tough, right? Since it’s a punishment game, don’t give them time to think; have them dance improvised.

They’ll probably end up doing hilarious moves you’d never expect from them.

If they’ve got high potential, they might even pull it off stylishly and win everyone’s applause.

doodles on the face

Funniest Face Doodle Championship!!!
doodles on the face

Since ancient times, there’s been a well-loved “punishment game” where you draw on someone’s face.

Think of the image of losing at a traditional battledore game, and feel free to draw whatever you like.

The classics include writing the kanji “肉” (meat) on the forehead, or drawing a mustache and eyebrows.

If that alone doesn’t get people excited, you can make the doodles fit a theme.

Try drawing the person to resemble a celebrity or an anime character—this will really liven things up.

Just be sure to use materials that wash off easily.
