[Simple but Fun] Penalties That Hype Up Elementary School Classrooms
This time, I’d like to introduce some “penalty games” that really liven things up in elementary school!
In elementary school, kids play all sorts of games during recess and other free time.
But if you keep playing the same kinds of games with the friends you see every day, there are probably days when things don’t get very exciting, right?
That’s when you should try adding a “penalty game”!
Simply say, “If you lose, you do a penalty,” and then decide the actual penalty by drawing lots after the winner is determined—the game is sure to be more exciting than ever.
We’ve gathered penalty games that everyone can enjoy, so feel free to use them as a reference!
[Simple yet Fun] Punishment Games That Fire Up Elementary Schoolers (1–10)
Tickle time with everyone

Despite being a classic, “kocho-kocho” tickling packs tremendous punch.
They say it’s even more ticklish than “kosho-kosho.” Honestly, both are ticklish, but kocho-kocho doesn’t work when you try to tickle yourself.
When someone else does it, though, it’s insanely ticklish.
Having everyone do kocho-kocho together is an almost unbearable punishment game—one that overflows with laughter.
Answer “I like it” to anything you’re asked.
A punishment game where you have to answer “○○” no matter what you’re asked tends to get lively because the conversation goes off the rails.
In this version, the rule is: “Answer ‘I like it’ to anything you’re asked.” No matter what someone says—whether it’s something you personally dislike or something people generally hate—you must reply, “I like it.” It’s fine when the questions are harmless, like about food, but if someone brings up something weird or a person’s name, you might get embarrassed and flustered.
Tickling the nose with a twisted paper stick

A punishment game that makes you want to sneeze just by watching: you stick a twist of tissue into a nostril and tickle it.
It’s a classic that’s been around for ages—funny and lively no matter when or where you do it—and it always makes you fidgety wondering what you’ll do if it comes around to you.
Lots of people always have tissues on hand, so you can play it anywhere.
Just having the little tissue twist come near you already feels ticklish, and even the people watching start to feel that sneezy itch—it’s a fun punishment game.
face tape

Have you ever seen an impressionist stick cellophane tape on their face to change its shape and do impressions? It’s such a simple idea—just putting tape on the face—and even though it only changes the face a little, it turns into a hilarious punishment game.
When playing an easy game, for example, you could have the person who gets it wrong get one strip of tape added each time—that would definitely liven things up, right? With every piece you add, their expression changes, and you won’t be able to stop laughing.
Change of sentence endings

A penalty game where the loser of rock-paper-scissors has to speak using a goofy sentence ending everyone came up with in advance.
Think up embarrassingly over-the-top endings like “gowasu,” “deyansu,” or “-dappi!”—ones that make them sound like an anime character—and plunge the target into an abyss of unspeakable embarrassment.
Of course, it’s also recommended to have them keep the penalty going after they get home.
Their family seeing them speak with a weird sentence ending might spark laughter—and maybe even count as a bit of family service!
Full sprint

Just an all-out sprint! This is a punishment game where you dash the designated course at full speed and come back.
The simpler the punishment, the harsher—and the more hype it gets, right? This is a classic example of that.
Even if it’s a full-speed sprint, it depends on the distance.
A few dozen meters is fine, but…
one lap around the schoolyard? That’s insanely tough (lol).
slap

A slap that smacks the cheek with an open hand.
You often see it as a punishment game.
It makes a light sound off the cheek, but it actually hurts quite a bit—especially if it’s done back and forth.
Slapping is really easy, so even girls can do it easily.
As with all punishment games, don’t forget it’s just a game, and keep it at a level everyone can enjoy!
