[Simple but Fun] Penalties That Hype Up Elementary School Classrooms
This time, I’d like to introduce some “penalty games” that really liven things up in elementary school!
In elementary school, kids play all sorts of games during recess and other free time.
But if you keep playing the same kinds of games with the friends you see every day, there are probably days when things don’t get very exciting, right?
That’s when you should try adding a “penalty game”!
Simply say, “If you lose, you do a penalty,” and then decide the actual penalty by drawing lots after the winner is determined—the game is sure to be more exciting than ever.
We’ve gathered penalty games that everyone can enjoy, so feel free to use them as a reference!

green juice

Do you all like aojiru? It’s really good for you—aojiru is packed with nutrients.
But most people say the taste is… well, not great.
So let’s give that aojiru a try! If possible, don’t sip it—down it in one go! You might feel something rising up, but hold it back and swallow.
Absolutely no spitting it out!
cheesy line

Everyone comes up with cheesy lines, and the loser has to say them—but both the ones thinking them up and the one saying them end up bursting into loud laughter at how ridiculous they are.
My recommendations are: “I won’t diiiiie,” “Because I wuv youuu,” and “Your eyes are 10,000 volts.” Oops, does that give away my age…? I think using popular catchphrases from hit dramas would make it catchy and a surefire bit!

weird hairstyle

As a punishment game, try a weird hairstyle that you’ve never done before—better yet, one no one’s ever done! There are lots of ways to have fun with it: overuse colorful hair ties and clips, put a wig on someone with short hair, or spray it in bizarre colors.
It’s also funny to use wax to sculpt it into a strange, rock-hard shape! Just make sure it’s all done in a way that can be fully removed at the end.
Chugging cola

When you think of penalty games, you might picture drinking something that tastes bad, but if you get to drink cola, it’s tasty, so it doesn’t feel like a penalty at all, right? Cola is delicious, after all.
But when it comes to chugging it, that’s a bit different.
Carbonated drinks—especially cola—have pretty strong fizz, don’t they? Trying to down that quickly could be pretty tough.
Gestures of a song

Gesture games are a fun way to test teamwork, and they also work as a penalty game! For example, have the person doing the penalty express the assigned song using gestures only.
They have to keep going until someone guesses the song.
If it’s a song they don’t know, the difficulty shoots up.
And it can be pretty embarrassing when a boy has to gesture to a girl group’s song.
air guitar

Air guitar has become so mainstream that there are even world championships! For guitarists and people in the music industry, it might feel less like a punishment and more like “finally, a punishment I can get behind!” But for those without that background, you might panic from the very start—like, how do you even hold it? Anyway, just move your hands as if you’re strumming a guitar and try to create the vibe that you think looks the coolest—that’s all you need!
Bertie Bott’s Every Flavour Beans

Bertie Bott’s Every-Flavour Beans, the sweets from the Harry Potter series! The version sold at Universal Studios Japan in Osaka includes beans with impossible flavors just like in the films.
Mixed in with tasty ones like green apple and lemon candy are many flavors you’d never see on a normal dining table, such as earthworm and booger.
We recommend grabbing one at random and having everyone eat them together on the count of three!
