Magic tricks that liven up group dates. Attention-grabbing tricks (21–30)
A simple number-guessing magic trick you can do with a 3×3 grid!

This is a prediction magic trick where anyone can easily guess the final number.
The trick uses a whiteboard with a 3×3 grid numbered 1–8 and some magnets.
First, have a spectator choose any number.
From that number, move clockwise the number of spaces indicated by the number you landed on.
For example, if the first choice is 6, move 6 spaces; if the next number you land on is 4, move 4 spaces, and so on.
After repeating this three times, you will always end up on 8.
So you place a paper with the number 8 stuck to the back of the whiteboard and reveal that it was “predicted” from the start.
The secret is very simple: just place the even numbers—2, 4, 6, and 8—in specific positions!
The answer is always 3!? A mysterious calculation

Have the audience think of a favorite number, then follow your instructions to calculate.
First, add 1 to the number they thought of.
Next, double that result and then add 4.
After that, divide by 2, and finally subtract the original number they thought of… Did the answer come out to 3? With this curious calculation, no matter what number they start with, if they follow the steps correctly, they will always end up with 3.
Since the audience likely doesn’t know it will be 3, reveal that you had predicted the number after they get their answer to amaze them.
Magic Circle Magic

It’s a magic trick where you instantly break down a number suggested by the audience and write it out.
For example, if the number is 35, you split it into four numbers like “7, 2, 17, 9” or “12, 14, 3, 6.” Anyone can do it if they think about it, but producing it in an instant is the impressive part.
What’s more, you write out four such groups of numbers, and no matter how you add them—by rows, columns, diagonals, the four corners, or the center number—they always total 35.
To pull off this trick, you need to memorize a base set of numbers.
Conversely, once you memorize that, you can instantly break down any number they give you!
Coin Underwatch

This is a coin-transposition magic trick.
In this routine, the coin travels from your hand to underneath your spectator’s wristwatch, making it a great icebreaker and guaranteed crowd-pleaser at social gatherings.
Try teleporting a coin under the watch of someone you’re interested in and give them a delightful surprise!
Cigarettes disappear

You hold a cigarette with both hands, gradually hiding it in your palms until it finally disappears.
I couldn’t help but chuckle when I saw the explanation of the trick, but it seems like controlling the grip with your hands would be tricky if you want to make it unnoticeable.
It’s the kind of magic that would still be exciting even after revealing the secret.
Rope Penetration Magic

This magic trick is a communication-style performance where the audience actually participates.
With the cue “One, two, three!” the rope looped around the spectator’s arm slips off with surprising ease.
Because the spectator can see it happen right before their eyes, it’s a simple trick that’s guaranteed to get the crowd excited.
Communication Magic Through Business Card Exchange

When you receive a business card, say, “Looks like we have a connection!” and perform a trick where you produce a five-yen coin from the card.
Hold the prepared five-yen coin concealed behind the card, and as you give the card a light shake, make the coin appear.
Move the card naturally and show both sides to emphasize that there’s no trick involved.
Since you’ll be holding the coin along the back side, cover it with your fingers and shift it toward the edge when showing the back to keep it hidden.
It’s a magic trick you can use in many situations as long as you have a card and a coin.
