boat

You can make a genuine “boat” out of a milk carton.
The materials are simple—things like wooden chopsticks and rubber bands—but the construction is complex, so it’s best for dexterous kids or upper elementary grades.
By using the stretch and recoil of rubber bands to drive a propeller, you can build a fairly sturdy boat.
You can actually run it and play with it in the bath or a pool.
Crane game made from a milk carton

A claw machine made by recycling milk cartons is an eco-friendly craft you can try with everyday materials.
First, open up the carton, cut it into the necessary shapes, and secure everything firmly with duct tape.
Next, create the part where the string will be tied, and staple the arm’s joints while devising how they connect.
Make holes in the control handle, thread the string through, tie it tightly, and reinforce it with duct tape.
Once finished, you’ll have a mechanism that lets you operate an arm moving up and down to grab prizes.
The light weight and easy workability unique to milk cartons are key features, making it perfect for doing with children.
It’s a fun idea that lets you enjoy a sense of accomplishment while playing.

dragonfly

This is a handmade bamboo-copter (taketombo) made from a milk carton.
Cut the milk carton into strips and draw patterns on them with a pen.
Coloring them brightly makes it look beautiful when it spins! Next, make a slit in a straw that will serve as the handle, and insert a milk carton piece folded in half.
Staple the inserted part firmly, then fold the milk carton diagonally and spread the wings to both sides to finish.
To make it spin well, add a bit of weight by putting tape on the tip of the milk carton—this is the key! Since it’s made from a soft milk carton, it’s safe to play with indoors.
Snap Frog

A frog made from a milk carton takes a big jump! Cut off the bottom of a milk carton, flatten it, and trim it so it’s about 9 cm wide.
Make small slits along the fold lines of the carton, hook rubber bands into the slits so they bite in, and you’ve got a mechanism that stretches the bands when you press from above and springs up when you let go! Attach parts like eyes and ears to turn it into your favorite animal or character.
Be careful not to crease areas other than the original fold lines—if they bend, the carton will crumple when pressed and won’t jump as well.
Rocket

Let’s try making and playing with a “rocket” using a milk carton.
Both the launch pad and the rocket are made from milk cartons.
Roll up the part that becomes the rocket and decorate it with masking tape or other materials.
For the launch pad, attach a rubber band to the bottom part of the carton, and finish it cutely with your favorite fabric or other decorations.
Washi papermaking

We use paper every day without thinking about it, but you can make cute washi paper using a milk carton! From one milk carton, you can make about two postcards.
It takes a few days to soak the carton in water and to dry the washi, so it won’t be finished right away, but it’s very cute—please give it a try.
In addition to the milk carton, you’ll need laundry starch, a blender, a container, a tray for draining water, a laundry net, boards such as cutting boards for pressing, and cute kitchen paper or paints to add patterns.
Marble coaster made from drawing paper and milk cartons

Let’s try making a complex marble run using a milk carton and construction paper! First, close the opening of the milk carton to make a complete cube, then wrap it with construction paper in any color you like.
Next, use construction paper to craft detailed tracks in various shapes.
Make different kinds of paths—curves, sharp angles, and zigzags.
Once the tracks are ready, attach them to the milk-carton cube however you like, and you’re done.
There are no rules for how to build the tracks, so create an original and fun course full of personality!
