The person with the larger number wins.

It’s a game where you hold up a card with a number (like a playing card) above your head so you can’t see it yourself, and you try to play a higher number than your opponent.

Since you can only see your opponent’s card, you should try to steer the card exchanges toward making their number as weak as possible.

Because both players are trying to weaken the other’s card, you need to read the nuances of their words carefully and infer how strong your own card might be.

The key is verbal strategy—communicating about the visible numbers while mixing in a few lies.

Who is lying?

It’s a game where there’s exactly one liar among several presenters, and the players must figure out who it is.

Carefully watch the presenters’ movements and facial expressions to find the liar whose behavior doesn’t match the prompt.

The prompts are things that aren’t easy to tell just by looking—like only one person listening to different music—so how they try to cover it up is also key.

It may be important for the participants to cooperate closely to create a situation that’s harder to read, which can make the mind games more intense.

The “You lose if you say ◯◯” game

This is a game where players count numbers in order, and the person who ends up saying the preselected number loses.

The rule is that you can count one to three numbers per turn.

As you play, think about which number to pass to the next person.

It’s recommended to use a strategy that considers how the numbers line up—for example, how far you can advance if the previous player said a certain number.

As the target number changes, your strategy will also shift a bit, so try out different patterns.

[Mind Game] If you eat the ◯◯ your opponent chose, you lose

It’s a game where you lay out small foods like gummies on a table, and each person secretly chooses one item so the others can’t see.

You then take turns eating items, trying not to hit something that someone else has chosen.

It tests your ability to read the other players’ thinking—both guessing roughly what they picked and placing decoys in spots they’re likely to choose.

As the number of remaining items dwindles, the risk of hitting a decoy increases for both sides, so it’s recommended to chat and gauge reactions as part of your strategy.

If you increase the number of decoys you set, you might enjoy even more sophisticated mind games.

NG word game

[No Longer Speaking] NG Word Game 🙅‍♂️ Vol. 2
NG word game

In this game, each participant is assigned an NG word that they can’t see themselves, and the others try to cleverly draw that word out during conversation.

If you figure out your own NG word from the flow of the talk, the conversation will shift to avoiding it, so try to keep things moving without letting others notice.

Choosing words that don’t raise suspicion—phrases you’d normally say—can make a difference right from the start.

If someone avoids joining the conversation, the risk decreases but the excitement drops, so it’s a good idea to impose a penalty in that case.

Trump: “Doubt.”

Trump: “Doubt.”

It’s a game where players lay down cards while declaring a number, and everyone else judges whether the declared number matches the card being played.

You can also play a card that doesn’t match your declaration, but if someone calls “Doubt” and the card doesn’t match the number you claimed, you have to take all the cards that have been played so far.

The key is deciding when to mix in lies and reading your opponents’ situations as you go.

It’s a simple game with plenty to think about: not only facial expressions and words, but sometimes you can spot a lie based on the cards in your own hand.

A game where you guess the color of the ball you’re holding

A game where you guess the color of the ball you're holding

It’s a game where you try to guess, through conversation, which color ball—out of three colors—the person on the other side of a wall is holding.

One player skillfully uses words to steer the other’s choice of ball, while the other keeps swapping balls to avoid being guessed.

Think about how to phrase things so the other person will switch to your ideal ball, drawing on everyday patterns of thought to guide them.

Try to exchange as many words as possible, and when you swap balls, clearly declare a color—even if it’s not the correct one—to keep the game running smoothly.
