This open-air cinema festival, which began in 2015, takes place on Jinoshima, an uninhabited island off the coast of Arida City in Wakayama Prefecture. Along the roughly 400-meter beach, visitors can enjoy workshops, island walks, and live music during the day, and after sunset, carefully curated film screenings and evenings gathered around a bonfire unfold. It is a participatory outdoor festival built on the concept of loosening the boundary between “provider” and “recipient,” enabling participants themselves to create small festivals and communities.
