Autumn Music Festival to be held in Western Japan [2026]

Even in autumn, there are still plenty of music festivals being held.

Here’s a roundup of fall music festivals taking place in western Japan.

It covers a wide area from the Tokai region to Kyushu and Okinawa, and there are lots of interesting events in each region.

Kyoto Prefecture

BorofestaOct 31 (Sat) – Nov 3 (Tue) Kyoto Prefecture

Borofesta is held at Kyoto KBS Hall—whose stained glass behind the stage is truly striking—and at the live music venue METRO. Organized entirely as a D.I.Y. festival by an executive committee made up of people working in music, such as live house staff and band members, along with many volunteer staff, Borofesta offers a wealth of perspectives unique to a D.I.Y. festival and enjoyment you won’t find at other events.

Shiga Prefecture

Inazuma Rock FesShiga Prefecture, Sat 9/19–Mon 9/21

Inazuma Rock, an outdoor rock festival with an uncompromising focus on Shiga Prefecture, organized by Takanori Nishikawa—who hails from Shiga and serves as a Shiga Hometown Tourism Ambassador—has been confirmed for this year as well. Held in an unbeatable setting by Lake Biwa and Mount Hiei, the event mainly features artists connected to Shiga or who have ties with Nishikawa. Part of the venue offers free admission, and there’s even a stage within the free area where you can enjoy live performances! Nishikawa is also known for his engaging talk segments, so it’ll be exciting to see how he fires up the crowd.

1CHANCE FESTIVALSep 26 (Sat) – 27 (Sun), Kumamoto Prefecture

This is an outdoor festival hosted by WANIMA, the popular three-piece rock band known for doing commercials and theme songs. Holding a festival they run themselves in their hometown of Kumamoto is a long-awaited event for both the band and their fans! I can’t wait to see which of their close-connected bands will be on the lineup. It’s a must-see event for fans who want to fully enjoy both music and Kumamoto. If you’re visiting Kumamoto for the first time, be sure to set aside plenty of time and go have fun!
