Gosetsu JAM was launched in Tokamachi, Niigata—the event venue—after organizers asked, “What can we do to draw people here?” and decided on a music festival. There probably aren’t any other outdoor festivals held in such a heavy-snow area, are there? With humorous rules like “Moshing and stage diving prohibited; oshikura manju (friendly shoving) allowed,” it sounds like a really fun event.

The venue is Naeba Ski Resort in Niigata Prefecture. You can enjoy a wide range of musical genres across stages of various sizes, and at night there are all-night DJ events—truly a festival where you can immerse yourself in music. Plus, just being at a festival set in the great outdoors is enough to get your heart racing. If you’re a music fan, it’s a festival you should attend at least once.

An outdoor festival hosted by the Yamanashi-born band THE NO EAR. This event was launched to commemorate the 10th anniversary in 2013 of URBAN RESEARCH DOORS, the original brand of the clothing select shop URBAN RESEARCH.
