Wakayama Festival Calendar [2026]: Music Festivals and Outdoor Events Summary

YARDMAN VIBES is an outdoor reggae event hosted by the Osaka-based sound system JAH WORKS. The venue is Kogawa Highland Park on Mount Katsuragi in Wakayama, where you can immerse yourself in music surrounded by mountain nature, powered by the heavy bass of the JAH WORKS FULL SOUND SYSTEM. In 2026, it will be held over two dates—May 24 and June 21—with performances by Cocochee, BOOGIE MAN, ZERO MOVEMENT, and more.

This open-air cinema festival, which began in 2015, takes place on Jinoshima, an uninhabited island off the coast of Arida City in Wakayama Prefecture. Along the roughly 400-meter beach, visitors can enjoy workshops, island walks, and live music during the day, and after sunset, carefully curated film screenings and evenings gathered around a bonfire unfold. It is a participatory outdoor festival built on the concept of loosening the boundary between “provider” and “recipient,” enabling participants themselves to create small festivals and communities. The E Komo Mai Hawaii Festival in Wakayama is the first Hawaiian celebration in the area where visitors can enjoy hula, Hawaiian music, and gourmet food at the Michi-no-Eki Shikinosato Park in Wakayama City. “E komo mai” means “welcome” in Hawaiian, and the festival’s concept is to help people become familiar with Hawaiian culture. Hula, Tahitian dance, and ukulele performances will be showcased on the Shiki Plaza and the front-entrance stages, and there will be kitchen cars and food booths as well. In 2026, the event will be held on April 26.
