Even elementary schoolers can do it! Guess the trump card numbers
This is a playing card magic trick where you guess the card someone has chosen.
In this trick, the spectator returns their chosen card to any spot they like, and you pretend not to know where it is—but in fact, from the moment it’s returned, the performer already knows its location.
The key to making this trick work is the bottom card of the deck.
While squaring the deck and demonstrating that the cards are well shuffled, make sure to firmly remember what that bottom card is.
Then, at the moment the chosen card is returned to the deck, place the key card directly on top of it.
By doing this, you’re able to keep track of the position of the chosen card!
Guess the number card that will be chosen
There’s a mysterious magic trick where you can predict the number on a card that will be chosen.
First, prepare five rectangular cards for the audience, each with a four-digit number, and circular cards for the performer with the same numbers printed on them.
The performer selects one card.
Then the audience selects one card.
Amazingly, the numbers on both cards turn out to be the same.
The secret is that the circular cards actually contain all the digits from every card, and the number changes depending on where you press, creating the illusion.
Number guessing using a 3×3 grid
I’ll introduce a number-guessing trick using a 3×3 grid.
First, fill a 3×3 grid drawn on a whiteboard (or similar) with the numbers 1 through 9.
For which number goes in which cell, please refer to the video or other materials.
Next, have someone choose one number, then move clockwise by that number of steps.
Have them repeat this about two more times.
Mysteriously, they should end up back at the square of the number they originally chose.
As long as you prepare the grid, anyone can do this.
Number guessing using a 25-square number grid
Here’s a number-guessing trick that’s perfect for party entertainment, using a 25-cell grid filled with three-digit numbers.
Prepare a 25-cell table with three-digit numbers and five colored pens.
Have the participant choose one row and one column for each pen color, drawing a line for each selection.
Then, add up the numbers at the intersections where lines of the same color cross.
Finally, reveal the back of a card that shows the total they just calculated.
It feels like a mysterious magic trick, but in fact, no matter which rows and columns are chosen, the sum always comes out the same.
Let’s predict the sum of four numbers!
Let’s try predicting a total using a 4×4 grid of numbers.
First, have a spectator choose one number from the grid.
Circle the chosen number, then cross out the squares directly above, below, to the left, and to the right of it.
Repeat this process, and in the end, add up the four remaining numbers—that total is what you’ll predict.
The trick is, no matter which numbers are chosen, the total will always be 20! By setting eight numbers along the top and right edges so that paired sums equal 20, and then filling the grid by adding those values, you can construct a table where the total is guaranteed to be 20 every time.
Number magic using a 16-square table
This magic trick uses a 4×4 grid filled with the numbers 1 to 16 in order.
When you add together four numbers randomly selected from the grid, they will match the predicted total.
As long as you follow the procedure correctly, the result will always be 34.
Participants choose one number at a time from 1 to 16.
After each choice, you eliminate all the other numbers in the same row and the same column as the chosen number.
Repeat this process, and no matter which numbers are selected, their sum will end up being 34.
Be sure to write down the predicted number, 34, somewhere in advance.

I’ll guess your birthday!
Let me show you a fun magic trick that guesses your birthday.
To make this trick work, you’ll need to remember and follow the steps.
First, multiply the number of your birth month by 4.
Then add 9 to the result and multiply by 25.
Next, add the day you were born and subtract 225.
