A masterpiece by ORIGINAL LOVE. A popular song that shines with a cool, stylish mood.

ORIGINAL LOVE started activities in 1986 and made their major debut in 1991.

They began as a band, but in 1995 it became Takao Tajima’s solo project.

Many people may have discovered them through drama theme songs or music programs.

Their pleasant grooves, rooted in rock numbers with shades of jazz and blues, will wrap your ears in happiness.

Of course, their signature song Kiss (Setsun) is a standout, but there are also funk tracks and a unique coolness and stylish atmosphere that only Tajima’s sound can create—it’s just the best!

Romantic-leaning songs like Let’s Meet on the Dark Side of the Moon are also wonderful.

When he feels stuck, it seems that running brings him new ideas for composing…!

Please enjoy the many timeless, cool classics of ORIGINAL LOVE forever!

ORIGINAL LOVE’s classic songs. Popular tracks that shine with a cool vibe (1–10)

ScandalORIGINAL LOVE

A stylish, funky dance number from the 2nd album “Kesshō” (Crystal), influenced by acid jazz.

It was performed on Loverman’s tour and brought the house down.

The track is chic all the way through, but it’s especially a classic thanks to the super cool saxophone tone in the latter half.

The VenusORIGINAL LOVE

The Venus (Soul Liberation Version)
The VenusORIGINAL LOVE

Their early signature song, the third single “Venus,” released in 1992.

It’s drenched in a moody atmosphere, so the original working title, “An Enchanting Evening,” would have fit perfectly too.

With lyrics by keyboardist Kihara, it’s a mature love song that rekindles a fleeting summer romance.

The words, which pair the movement of the waves with the swells of emotion, are deeply affecting, and when combined with Tajima’s sexy vocals, they’re utterly mesmerizing.

The club-like vibe is comfortable as well, and it feels especially right when you listen after dusk.

A song included on Hakunetsu that’s also been performed a lot at recent live shows.

In the solo soul show, he sang while pounding on a single Dobro guitar, and the sheer power was absolutely overwhelming.

The original is a Philly soul-style track that really gets the crowd going.

LovermanORIGINAL LOVE

Opening the 17th album, this track encapsulates the question “What is ORIGINAL LOVE?” in recent years.

Although the idea for the song had existed for a long time, the right moment to release it never came, and it finally saw the light of day in 2015.

It’s a Philly soul–style sweet love song, and while the rhythm is complex, the whole thing is tightly crafted as pop, leaving a very intriguing impression.

The more you listen, the more addictive this masterpiece becomes!

Like two handsORIGINAL LOVE

It’s a melodic track included on the fourth album, “Hear the Wind Sing.” The guitar melody in the intro and the reverb-laden keyboards evoke songs by Curtis Mayfield and Stevie Wonder from the ’70s, but it doesn’t feel like a rip-off—rather, it’s full of respect.

It’s a song you never get tired of, even today.

JUMPIN’ JACK JIVEORIGINAL LOVE

JUMPIN’ JACK JIVE (Short Version) Takao Tajima
JUMPIN' JACK JIVEORIGINAL LOVE

Included on their first album, it’s a rock ’n’ roll-style track—obvious even from its title, which seems clearly inspired by the Rolling Stones.

Right from the opening line it taunts, like “Your least favorite type—that’s me, right?!” and the way it proposes a new way to compete—“Settle it with a jump!”—is rock to the core and really fun.

At live shows everyone jumps like crazy and the crowd goes wild.

It’s the perfect song to blast when you’re frustrated—it’s incredibly cathartic!

The dreamerORIGINAL LOVE

ORIGINAL LOVE – Dreamer – RAINBOW RACE
The dreamerORIGINAL LOVE

This is a song included on the 5th album, “RAINBOW RACE.” It gives the impression of a Brazilian-style pop track in terms of BPM, with a flute that weaves in between sections and sounds wonderfully pleasant.

Thanks to the genius of Takao Tajima, it’s put together with stylish, well-balanced finesse, yet this exquisite cohesion also feels like something that could only have been expressed by a band in the 1990s.
