A masterpiece by ORIGINAL LOVE. A popular song that shines with a cool, stylish mood.
ORIGINAL LOVE started activities in 1986 and made their major debut in 1991.
They began as a band, but in 1995 it became Takao Tajima’s solo project.
Many people may have discovered them through drama theme songs or music programs.
Their pleasant grooves, rooted in rock numbers with shades of jazz and blues, will wrap your ears in happiness.
Of course, their signature song Kiss (Setsun) is a standout, but there are also funk tracks and a unique coolness and stylish atmosphere that only Tajima’s sound can create—it’s just the best!
Romantic-leaning songs like Let’s Meet on the Dark Side of the Moon are also wonderful.
When he feels stuck, it seems that running brings him new ideas for composing…!
Please enjoy the many timeless, cool classics of ORIGINAL LOVE forever!

A Sweet and Dangerous ScentORIGINAL LOVE

This is a cover of the classic track included as the B-side to Tatsuro Yamashita’s “Jounetsu no Bara.” Combined with the vocalist’s distinctive quirks, the richness of the voice stands out even more than in Yamashita’s original, yet you can clearly feel the respect for the song throughout.
The rhythm of the original has often been referenced by Shibuya-kei artists, but the ORIGINAL LOVE version is crafted with a different flavor, offering a glimpse of the genius of Takao Tajima.
Golden TimeORIGINAL LOVE

A commemorative new single from ORIGINAL LOVE celebrating their 25th anniversary! The lyrics weave in classic album titles and songs, blending the band’s past and present into a track that’s sure to electrify live shows.
The rhythm section is backed by drummer Yasuo Sano and bassist Hideyuki Komatsu, the very members who supported ORIGINAL LOVE’s groove.
A song truly worthy of their 25th anniversary.
You’ll have it on infinite repeat for sure!

Coming soonORIGINAL LOVE

It’s a collaboration track with Scha Dara Parr included on the album “Hakune.” Listening to this song instantly brings back memories of youth—it’s one of those so-called “Shibuya-kei” numbers that vividly sings about the everyday lives of teenage boys and girls around the late ’80s to early ’90s, when the magazine Olive was a beloved read.
With Shibuya-kei artists becoming active again, the title “Coming Soon” feels almost prophetic, as if it foresaw the future, and it seems to carry a profoundly deeper meaning now.
In live performances, Tajima sings Scha Dara Parr’s parts all by himself—and that’s quite a sight to see.
love songORIGINAL LOVE

From the very first line, it’s a song where he shouts “Don’t collapse, please don’t collapse” over and over, and live it’s even more shout-filled than on the album—a powerful number that’s moving to experience.
When you’re having a hard time, listening to it makes you feel like, “No way I’m going down!”—the kind of song that spurs you on.
Beyond the blue skyORIGINAL LOVE

It’s a melodic number included on the 6th album, “Desire.” The intro features the Middle Eastern stringed instrument oud, giving it an oriental flavor, but it’s not world-music-like; instead, it’s a pop track brimming with ORIGINAL LOVE’s signature style.
The vocals are powerful, yet the sound is refreshing, making it utterly captivating.
The lyrics are also excellent, so I highly recommend it.
LET’S GOORIGINAL LOVE

This is the opening track of their third album.
It’s a complete shift from the stylish sound of the first and second albums, delivering a much funkier number.
When it was released, its markedly different style shocked fans.
The more you listen, the more it grows on you, and even now it doesn’t feel dated.
Around this time, you can start to hear a bit of Tajima’s distinctive vocal quirks emerging.
It’s still performed at recent live shows, where it always gets the crowd going.
IrisORIGINAL LOVE

Original Love is Takao Tajima’s solo project.
It’s known for its musical style shifting dramatically with each album.
This song was released in 1997.
There’s a hint of loneliness drifting through the sensual lyrics.
It’s almost suffocating with the mood of an intense, mature romance.
