A wonderful youth song

A classic, bittersweet youth song. Recommended popular tracks.

It’s nice to take some time now and then to reminisce and get a little sentimental, isn’t it?

This time, I’ve gathered Japanese songs that sing about those passionate yet fickle days of youth.

I hope that by listening to these tracks, you’ll be able to say, “The past is the past!” and move on.

Youthful AmigoShūji to Akira

It’s the theme song of a certain drama, released as a track by the characters within the show.

Many people probably recognize the chorus line, “We were always two as one.” It’s a song that captures the youthful brashness of never doubting “I’m strong.”

Always keep your dreamsHashi Yukio, Yoshinaga Sayuri

Yukio Hashi & Sayuri Yoshinaga / Itsudemo Yume o (Always Dream)
Always keep your dreamsHashi Yukio, Yoshinaga Sayuri

It’s a refreshing, bright, and truly youthful song that doesn’t succumb to poverty.

Maybe not many people would sing it together nowadays, but it’s an upbeat, positive tune.

I think singing it with your boss would probably bring you closer.

It’d be great for everyone to put their arms around each other and sing, too.

Letter ~ Dear Fifteen-Year-Old MeAnjura Aki

It’s a song that cheers on my past self, telling them that youth can be really tough but to hang in there.

When I listen to it, I feel like telling my middle- and high-school self, “In times like that, this is what you should do.” No matter how painful youth may be, it makes me want to tell the younger generation not to lose heart and to keep going.

Shadows of Youthchūrippu

A song included on Tulip’s 1974 album TAKE OFF (Ririku, “Takeoff”).

It sings about a relationship between a man and a woman shifting from romance to love.

It may not depict the so-called typical “youth” of one’s junior and senior high school days.

However, this song teaches us that the very days spent protecting someone important to you are what truly constitute ‘youth.’

Summer TriangleNICO Touches the Walls

Many of you may know it from when it was featured in a soft drink commercial a few years ago.

It’s a song that conjures up scenes of a dazzling, sparkling youth, where you become completely absorbed in the person you love.

I especially want people who are in love to listen to it.
