A game where you draw pictures and have fun. Everyone becomes a master artist?! A fun drawing game

Do you all like drawing pictures?

You might enjoy drawing but feel uneasy about being judged—many people feel that way.

In this article, we’ll introduce games and apps where you can have fun by drawing!

Whether you’re good at drawing or not, these are all activities you can enjoy, so don’t worry about how your drawings turn out.

In fact, these days people who “can’t draw at all” or who have a unique style are often affectionately called “master artists,” so you might even become the hero of the day.

Draw however you like and have fun!

A theme is given, and you draw it within a time limit, then compare the finished drawings—it’s a simple concept.

The time limit is the fun twist, adding a game-like element to ordinary drawing.

It’s not just about pure drawing skill; it’s a game where the ability to grasp the key features of the given theme and express them concisely—your power to communicate—matters.

It can be interesting to choose easy-to-understand themes and compare how well they’re conveyed, and it also sounds fun to set intangible themes like “time” or “youth” and see how each person chooses to express them.

A drawing game where you communicate using only words

A drawing game where you communicate using only words is way too fun!!!

A single picture is chosen as the theme, and the prompt-giver describes that picture.

The respondents listen to the description and each draw their own version.

After revealing the finished drawings, the person whose drawing is closest to the picture the prompt-giver saw wins.

The key is how clearly and thoroughly the prompt-giver can describe what they’re looking at, and how vividly the respondents can imagine the picture—reading each other’s thinking is crucial.

When you look at the final drawings, you can see which parts of the explanation were lacking, so it seems like the more you play, the better you’ll understand the knack for giving good descriptions.

Illustration addition

SixTONES - Picture Puzzle - Challenge the “Illustration Addition”!
Illustration addition

It’s a simple game where you add two or more presented illustrations together and figure out what the answer becomes.

It’s a quiz that requires creativity, and it’s also important to interpret what each illustration represents.

You can have a range of problems—from simple ones where you connect words to find the correct answer, to scenarios where overlapping situations produce a phenomenon.

It would be fun either as a format where participants answer the quizzes presented to them, or as one where participants take turns presenting quizzes and everyone enjoys each person’s drawing skills.

Drawing Synchronization Game

Let's play at home! The Drawing Synchro Game♪ If we sync up, you'll get a reward from Dad's allowance☆ himawari-CH
Drawing Synchronization Game

It’s a game where you check how closely participants’ ideas align through drawings.

First, a prompt presents a situation where the item appears, along with parts that must be used in the drawing.

Within that limited context, everyone draws and tries to see if they can arrive at the same answer.

Figuring out how to use the assigned parts is probably the tricky point.

It can be fun to have each person draw what comes to mind and measure the distance between your hearts, and it also seems enjoyable to make it about reading the other person’s thoughts and moving your answers closer together.

Drawing Shiritori

SixTONES [Emergency! Kyomoto Project] Shiritori with Drawing!
Drawing Shiritori

Shiritori is a word game where you take the last letter of the previous person’s word and say a new word that starts with that letter.

Even a simple shiritori becomes a different kind of fun when you play it with drawings.

You repeatedly look at what the previous person drew, think about what word it represents, and then draw something that starts with that word.

After one round, you stop and check whether it actually formed a proper shiritori chain.

Rather than pure drawing skill, the key point is to create clear drawings that capture distinctive features and are easy to understand.

Comparing and verifying what everyone drew might be the most enjoyable part of the game.

Guess the theme! Drawing game

[What’s the Prompt? Quiz] I thought I gave the same prompt to all three people, but…
Guess the theme! Drawing game

It’s an easy-to-understand game where one person draws a picture based on a given theme, and the other participants guess the original prompt from that drawing.

If a uniquely stylized or hard-to-interpret drawing is presented, deciphering what the artist wants to convey brings you closer to the correct answer.

You can enjoy seeing each person’s level of drawing skill while also appreciating the sense of connection among the people present.

Rather than using tangible objects, setting abstract concepts or situations as the prompts can make everyone’s expressive abilities even more enjoyable to explore.

Drawing Telephone Game

SixTONES – Drawing Telephone Game: Who’s the Master Artist!?
Drawing Telephone Game

It’s a game where you play telephone not with words, but with drawings.

It offers a different kind of fun from the usual telephone game.

A prompt is given, and each person passes it along with a drawing; the last person tries to guess the original prompt.

Even if they don’t get it right, analyzing how the misunderstandings happened is part of the enjoyment.

It also tests everyone’s drawing skills—capturing key features and expressing them simply is crucial to communicating the idea.

Why not enjoy both the game and everyone’s artistic flair?
