Once a craze among many boys, Hyper Yo-Yos are still enjoyed today as a deep and fascinating toy.

If you want to show it off as a party trick, rather than demonstrating each trick one by one, a freestyle routine that combines tricks to music will likely look much cooler.

Trump Tower

A card tower is perfect as a hidden talent to liven up year-end or New Year parties! Since you just stack playing cards into a triangular shape, anyone can start easily.

Watching someone carefully build the tower has a captivating charm.

But be careful—lose your cool and it can collapse in an instant! Encouraging each other as you aim higher can even help strengthen everyone’s bonds.

As a fun activity for a great time together, a card tower is highly recommended!

Card throwing

Card throwing

Have you ever seen a magician stylishly fling playing cards? Even though they’re just thin pieces of paper, they slice through the air and fly beautifully.

The video explains tips on how to throw them.

Setting up a target and knocking it down with a card looks pretty cool, too.

Butterfly’s Dance

[Magic / Conjuring] P2105 Dance of the Butterfly
Butterfly's Dance

Butterfly Dance is an adaptation of the traditional magic trick “Ukare Kochō,” redesigned so it can be performed impromptu.

A paper butterfly is fanned with a sensu (folding fan), fluttering and dancing through the air.

In the climax, butterflies seem to pour forth from the performer’s hands—one of the trick’s great highlights! Its elegant, traditional Japanese movements and dreamlike atmosphere make it especially fitting for female performers.

However, mastering this trick is extremely difficult, so if you’re thinking of showing it off at a year-end or New Year’s party, we recommend using magic props.

rakugo (traditional Japanese comic storytelling)

How about trying your hand at rakugo, one of Japan’s representative traditional performing arts? Rakugo is a storytelling art where a single performer plays multiple roles.

While the use of props and body movements is important, the emphasis is even more on verbal skill.

You could slot it in between more physical performances to lighten the mood.

If you want an authentic atmosphere, try preparing a kimono and a folding fan.

A yukata or even a cosplay outfit can surprisingly capture the vibe, too.
