The piano is said to be the most versatile instrument, capable of covering everything from low to high registers all on its own.
Because producing sound on the piano is simpler compared to other instruments, its range of expression is very broad—you could say it’s an instrument that clearly reveals the performer’s unique world.

Baby, God Bless YouSeizuka Shinya

Shinya Kiyozuka is one of Japan’s leading pianists.
He has composed numerous pieces for TV dramas and films, so you may have heard his music without even realizing it.
“Baby, God Bless You” is also the theme song for the TV drama “Kounodori,” which began in 2015.
Its flowing, beautiful melody is powerful yet comforting, and it evokes a strangely captivating feeling.
The fact that such dramatic expression can be achieved with piano alone makes this a piece that once again reaffirms the instrument’s brilliance.
Omake PfadlibSawano Hiroyuki

“Omake-pfadlib” is the track that plays in episode 6 of the anime Attack on Titan, during the scene where Eren wraps a scarf around Mikasa.
It’s included on the Attack on Titan Original Soundtrack.
The tender, heartrending melody tightens my chest.
Merry Christmas, Mr. Lawrence – Piano Solo FeatureSakamoto Ryuichi

When it comes to piano solo pieces I want to play, Ryuichi Sakamoto’s “Merry Christmas, Mr.
Lawrence” is indispensable.
Its melody, centered on the five-note pentatonic scale, is achingly beautiful—a true classic.
I imagine many people started learning piano after hearing “Merry Christmas, Mr.
Lawrence.” Composed as the main theme for the 1983 film of the same name, it won the BAFTA Award for Best Original Film Music.
It is one of Sakamoto’s most well-known pieces and is included in numerous piano method books.
Flower DanceDJ Okawari

DJ Okawari crafts an original sound built on jazzy piano and hip-hop rhythms.
One of his signature tracks, “Flower Dance,” is included on his 2011 release Kaleidoscope.
The moving piano melody evokes the poignancy of loss.
The rhythmic drums riding over the beautiful melody add a sense of depth.
This delicate, crystal-clear piece will wash away a weary heart.
RomanceKuramoto Yūki

“Romance,” with its charming, unadorned melody woven into a beautiful tune.
It was composed by Hiroki Kuramoto, who has worked on numerous TV drama scores, and is included on his 1998 release “Reminiscence.” He enjoys great popularity in Korea, thanks in part to his music being featured in Korean dramas such as “Winter Sonata.” It’s recommended not only as background music but also for immersing yourself in its richly colored timbres.
Listening to his piano evokes tender longing and nostalgia, conveying emotions that words can’t quite capture.
WISHS.E.N.S.

When you’re feeling down, you naturally want to listen to music that gives you hope.
For those moments, I recommend the insert track from the drama “God, Please Give Me More Time,” known for its sensational, tear-jerking story.
It was created by SENS, an instrumental unit behind numerous BGMs for Japanese films, dramas, and commercials.
The poignant melody resonates perfectly with the work’s theme.
Its moving lines will be there for you when life feels stifling or you’re struggling.
Precisely because it has no lyrics, it lets you savor the piano more deeply.
