Tears of the Pokémon

In Pokémon: The First Movie – Mewtwo Strikes Back, when Ash tries to stop the battle between Mew and Mewtwo, he turns to stone. It’s the tears of the Pokémon present that restore him to his original state. This scene can move even adults to tears.

Pokédex

The Pokédex is a device that records information about the Pokémon a Trainer encounters. It started out as an electronic notebook, then later appeared in forms like a dual-screen model and a tablet-type device. Beginning with the Sun and Moon series, it merges with the Pokémon Rotom and serves as a Pokédex in the form of the Rotom Phone.

Stand by Me

If you look at the TV screen in the protagonist’s house in Pokémon Red and Green, text appears that evokes a scene from the film Stand by Me. By the way, in later games as well, you’ll find text in the protagonist’s home that seems to be inspired by a certain movie, so be sure to look for it!

rock

Sudowoodo looks exactly like a tree, but it’s not a Grass type—it's actually a Rock-type Pokémon. Its pre-evolution is Bonsly, and Bonsly evolves into Sudowoodo when it learns the move Mimic.

fall asleep

In the world of Pokémon, hearing Jigglypuff’s song puts you to sleep. In the anime, there are scenes where Jigglypuff gets angry at those who fall asleep after listening to its song and doodles on the faces of the sleeping people and Pokémon with a marker. Jigglypuff’s evolutionary line is Igglybuff, Jigglypuff, and Wigglytuff.

malasada

In the Alola region, the setting of the Sun and Moon series, the local specialty is malasadas. Malasadas are like fried donuts and are a favorite among both people and Pokémon. There are three shops in the game that sell malasadas, but the flavor varies depending on the shop.

Spearow

In the first episode of the anime, the Pokémon that attacked Ash and Pikachu were Spearow. Up to that point, Pikachu hadn’t listened to anything Ash said, but when they were attacked by the Spearow and Ash risked himself to protect Pikachu, Pikachu began to open its heart to Ash.
