Near the end of development on the original Pokémon Red and Green, about 300 bytes of free space appeared after a debugging program was removed, and a developer secretly wrote data into it—thus it was born. It wasn’t originally intended to appear in the game, but its existence was exposed through a glitch technique, and it sparked a huge boom through a giveaway in CoroCoro Comic. This marked the beginning of the category known as “Mythical Pokémon.”

Individual Values

Individual values are one of the factors that determine a Pokémon’s strength, functioning as hidden parameters akin to a person’s talent or aptitude. Even Pokémon of the same species and level will end up with different final stats like HP and Attack if their IVs differ. They are generally set on a 32-step scale from 0 to 31, and a Pokémon with the highest value in every stat is referred to by fans as “6V,” among other terms. While they used to be unchangeable, in recent titles it has become possible to improve these values through Hyper Training.

In the original Pokémon Red and Blue era, there were three Eevee evolutions: Vaporeon, Jolteon, and Flareon. Each can evolve using an evolution stone: Water Stone, Thunder Stone, or Fire Stone, respectively. Incidentally, as the series progressed, new evolutions were discovered, and there are now a total of eight possible evolutions.

Palkia

Palkia is a Legendary Pokémon from the Sinnoh region that first appeared in Pokémon Diamond and Pearl. Known as the deity that governs space, it can freely manipulate spatial connections to move to distant locations or even other dimensions.

Jirachi is known as the “Wish Pokémon” and has a highly mysterious ecology, said to awaken for only seven days out of a thousand years. Normally, it continues to sleep in a crystal-like form called a Sleep Cocoon, but it is said to awaken upon hearing a pure singing voice. While awake, it opens the “True Eye” on its belly, and legend says it can grant any wish.

As a traditional rule carried over from the original Red and Green, defeating Gym Leaders across the region and collecting eight Gym Badges is the requirement to earn the right to challenge the Pokémon League. By collecting all eight badges, even the highest-level Pokémon received through trades will obey you, and you are granted access to Victory Road, the arduous path leading to the League. While there are exceptions like the island challenge in the Alola region, the eight badges are basically the key that proves a Trainer’s skill.

Basically, the types that a Pokémon naturally has are limited to a maximum of two. Pokémon that have two types, such as Charizard with Fire and Flying, are called dual-type Pokémon. Even on the in-game status screen or in the Pokédex, no more than two types are displayed. However, as a battle-only exception, a Pokémon can temporarily have three types if it is given the Grass type by the move Forest’s Curse or the Ghost type by the move Trick-or-Treat.

Freezer

The three Legendary bird Pokémon that appear in the Kanto region of the original Pokémon Red and Green are Zapdos, Moltres, and Articuno. Articuno is an Ice/Flying type and inhabits the deepest part of the Seafoam Islands.

Mimikyu

The correct answer is Mimikyu. It’s a Ghost/Fairy-type Pokémon that first appeared in the Alola region. It wears a rag that resembles Pikachu because, when Pikachu merchandise was popular in the past, it’s said to have believed that imitating that appearance would help it befriend humans. Though it looks cute at first glance, the Pokédex contains terrifying entries such as “a researcher who saw what’s underneath died from shock” and “came down with a mysterious illness,” and it’s known as a Pokémon whose true form must never be seen. It also has an endearing side, like spending the whole night repairing its cloth if it gets torn.

Poké Flute

To wake up a sleeping Snorlax, you need the Poké Flute. This item plays an important role in progressing certain parts of the story in the game. In some entries in the series, it can also be used during battles to wake up a Pokémon that has fallen asleep.
