There’s a behind-the-scenes story that the ending theme of the anime “Hataraki Man” was originally written as a dark song, but the final version turned out pop.

Beneath the bright melody, you can sense a certain instability and poignancy.

The overall vocal range is narrow but somewhat high, from C4 to D#5.

The key to singing it is to keep your delivery light.

The song itself is short at around three minutes, and the melody line is very simple, so even beginners to “Shangri-La” should be able to learn it quickly!

If I sing to the sky175R86rank/position

175R is a rock band that made its major debut in 2003.

They announced a hiatus in 2010, but resumed activities in 2016 and continue to perform at many festivals and play live shows.

When you think of 175R, many people probably think first of this song, Sora ni Utaeba.

The song overall gives the impression of having many long tones, which really bring out vocalist SHOGO’s higher register.

The vocal range spans an octave and a half from F3 to B4, which might feel a bit high for male singers.

That said, the song starts mostly in the lower range, so as long as you can handle the rapid, wordy line at the end of the chorus, it’s a very satisfying song to sing.

It builds even more toward the end with call-and-response parts, so definitely give it a try when you want to hype things up at karaoke.

Jenny High, formed around Enon Kawatani of Gesu no Kiwami Otome, drew attention for its unconventional lineup, with comedian Kazuya Kojima (Koyabu Kazutoyo) on drums and Kukki! on bass.

Their song “Jenny High Rhapsody” is a uniquely catchy pop tune that’s perfect to sing as a novelty pick at karaoke.

In this track, each instrumental member takes turns on vocals, making it even more exciting when you split parts among a group.

Be sure to try it at your next large-group karaoke session!

A signature number by Awesome City Club, whose melody resonates in the chest like tracing bittersweet yet warm memories.

While carrying a sense of loss over a past love, the protagonist’s earnest wish to use those memories as nourishment and step into a new future is beautifully conveyed through the delicate interplay of the male–female twin vocals.

This track appears at the very beginning of the album “Grower,” released in February 2021, and is widely known for being used as the inspire song for the film “We Made a Beautiful Bouquet.” Because the first and second verses tell the story from different perspectives, it’s a perfect choice for karaoke to be sung emotionally as a duet, layering each person’s feelings.

From a male perspective, the song that makes me think “A woman who sings this is so cute…” is ‘Sekai wa Koi ni Ochiteiru.’ It was released in 2014 by CHiCO with HoneyWorks, known for producing numerous love songs.

It was used as the opening theme for the anime Blue Spring Ride (Ao Haru Ride), so at karaoke with people in their 20s, it could spark lively conversation like, “Have you seen that anime?” The story, which portrays a heart-fluttering youthful romance, is adorable.

With its pop melody, it’s a track where love picks up speed.

If you want to capture a man’s heart, definitely give it a try.

This is the title track of the major-label debut single released in June 2018 by Hump Back, a three-piece girls’ rock band from Osaka.

Written by vocalist Momoko Hayashi for her high school bandmates, the song’s lyrics—filled with anxiety and conflict about pursuing dreams, as well as hope—strike a chord.

It was also featured as the ending theme for Nippon TV’s Buzz Rhythm 02 in June 2018, making it a popular number.

Sung over a driving, fast-paced rock sound, it’s an anthem that’s sure to lift the spirits not only of yourself but also of the friends singing along with you at karaoke.

Kiss me right nowLINDBERG91rank/position

LINDBERG is a rock band that was hugely successful in the 1990s.

Known for their energetic, upbeat pop-rock sound, the group has produced many classic songs.

Among them, “Ima Sugu Kiss Me” stands out as a particularly memorable piece.

While the song leans toward pop rock and maintains tremendous energy throughout, it surprisingly doesn’t feature sustained long notes in the mid-to-high or higher registers.

The overall vocal range isn’t especially wide, so even women with lower voices should be able to sing it comfortably in an appropriate key.
