From the exhilarating intro guitar riff to the driving beat and crystalline vocals, this is a staple of [Alexandros]’s live shows.

The lyrics carry a powerful message filled with inner conflict and aspirations, perfectly balanced with a refreshing, hope-filled sound.

Released in March 2015, the track was featured in the film “Akegarasu.” It’s a song that gives you a strong push when you want to strive toward your goals or take a new step forward—one that lifts your spirits.

The song “Single Bed,” renowned as one of the great ballads of the Heisei era, is also a signature work of Sharam Q and is still frequently sung at karaoke today.

Its range spans mid1 C# to mid2 G#, so it’s not extremely low, but because the more energetic phrases can be delivered with a rich lower–mid register, it’s a piece that lets men with lower voices showcase their appeal.

Using the hiccup vocal technique further enhances a masculine quality, so give it a try for reference.

frecklesJUDY AND MARY31rank/position

Freckles – JUDY AND MARY (Full)

Known as one of JUDY AND MARY’s signature songs, this track was released in February 1996.

It was also used as the theme song for the anime Rurouni Kenshin: Meiji Swordsman Romantic Story.

YUKI’s clear, soaring vocals and the catchy melody make a strong impression.

While depicting the complex feelings after a heartbreak, the lyrics still convey a positive outlook, which is part of their appeal.

It’s sure to be a hit at year-end and New Year parties’ karaoke! With a tempo that’s easy for all age groups to enjoy, it should be an easy pick for company gatherings as well.

Let’s all sing it out with energy and brighten the start of the new year!

It’s included on the double A-side single “Negai / Higher Ground,” released on December 11, 2019, and was written as the theme song for the TV Asahi drama Ossan’s Love -in the sky-.

The overall vocal range of the song is A2–A4.

While there are high notes, you don’t need to belt them; using falsetto is fine.

The tempo isn’t too fast either, so it should be comfortable to sing.

For the low notes in the first verse, make sure to use plenty of breath and push the sound forward so it resonates without sounding muffled.

Since the melody gradually rises toward the chorus, keeping your facial muscles lifted and singing with a bright tone will help you switch into the higher register smoothly.

catDISH//33rank/position

“Neko,” the signature song by DISH//, written and composed by Aimyon.

The acoustic version performed on THE FIRST TAKE in 2020 became a huge hit and was also used as the theme song for TV Tokyo’s drama “Neko.” Lots of people used to sing it in vocal training, so it feels nostalgic.

When singing it in karaoke scoring mode, be careful not to put in too much emotion.

On the other hand, if you sing it too flat, your expressiveness will drop, so sing with a sense of contrast and accents.

Since the chorus is structured to build gradually, it might be good to approach it with the image of singing each phrase clearly!

TSUNAMISazan Ōrusutāzu34rank/position

Speaking of wide vocal ranges, some of you might immediately think of Southern All Stars’ Keisuke Kuwata.

The song’s overall range is quite broad, from A2 to D5, and unless you consciously change your approach between the verses and the chorus, it’s a tough one to sing well.

“TSUNAMI” is also very popular in vocal training.

Many people tend to tense up on the high notes in the last chorus, so we practiced relaxation a lot.

If you suddenly push your voice, it strains your throat and produces a tight, uncomfortable sound.

Before you sing, open your throat to create a pathway for the breath, and then send the air with a quick, elastic motion.

It’s also important to lift your facial muscles!

A song I definitely want women to sing when they want to pump things up is Ryokuoushoku Shakai’s “Mela!”.

The range is on the higher side (G#3–F5), so it’s recommended for those who are good with high notes.

Many people practice this song in vocal training, and with practice you can definitely master it! You’ll probably want the high notes in the chorus to come out more powerfully than in falsetto.

Start by practicing with falsetto, then gradually strengthen that sound.

Raise your facial muscles and eyebrows, and focus on resonating in the same spot at all times; keep the same awareness when switching between chest voice and falsetto.

Stay relaxed, place the accent as far forward as possible, and project your voice clearly!
