The trend has shifted from the past, and idol songs have spread even among people who used to have nothing to do with idols.

Now they’ve become popular music listened to by many.

This time, I’d like to introduce a ranking of idol songs that have been widely listened to since the start of this year.

It was included on their 13th single released in September 2014 and topped the Oricon weekly chart.

It’s also known for being the theme song of the drama “Water Polo Yankees,” starring member Yuto Nakajima, and is featured on albums such as the classic “JUMPing CAR.” It’s an energetic cheer song that lifts you up when you want to shake off anxiety, face forward, and find the strength to take on tomorrow.

This work, released by Snow Man in August 2025, showcases their overwhelming performance.

Following the single “SERIOUS” released in July of the same year, this song builds on their momentum.

Osaka Romanesque is a love story set in Osaka.

It was released in 2006 by Kanjani Eight, a male idol group made up of members from the Kansai region.

The lyrics distinctively weave in various place names from Osaka, unfolding a realistic portrayal of a couple’s romance.

Their gentle vocals over a laid-back band arrangement are also soothing.

It’s a love song that sings about a feeling everyone has experienced: “Even though we sometimes grow apart over trivial things, in the end we fall in love with each other all over again.”

FOR YOUBTS84rank/position

FOR YOUBTS

A heartrending love song themed around a long-distance relationship, it topped the Oricon weekly chart.

Produced by UTA, the music video also features the members transforming into various part-time job roles—another highlight.

The vocal range in “FOR YOU” isn’t very high, but it feels like the lower register is emphasized more than the high notes.

Be careful not to overuse your throat when singing low notes.

Compared to your speaking voice, aim for a slightly more polished tone; lifting your eyebrows helps keep the resonance from dropping too much into the throat, preventing a muffled sound and making it easier to sing.

It’s also recommended to sing as if you’re placing a bundle of breath right in front of you.

It’s a great choice for karaoke to amp up the passionate mood, and its rhythmic vibe makes it fun to sing with plenty of energy.

Written and composed by Sho Yamamoto, it’s packed with playful flair, featuring rapid-fire spoken lines and a distinctive, fun rhythm.

Serving as the opener of the EP “Dreamin’ Closet,” released in November 2023, this track is beloved as a killer tune that unites the crowd at live shows.

The irresistibly adorable choreography that makes you want to copy it is another big draw.

Whether you need a boost of energy or want to sing and dance with friends at karaoke, this song is sure to blow all your worries away.

Crystal SnowBTS87rank/position

It’s a Japanese original song released on December 6, 2017, characterized by passionate lyrics that compare a precious person to a snowflake—so delicate they might melt at a touch, yet you still want to hold them before they disappear.

The song itself is a ballad, so the tempo is relaxed; even beginners can sing it calmly while keeping an eye on the lyrics.

The chorus has many sustained notes in succession, so singing it grandly should let your voice flow comfortably.

If you worry too much about pitch, you won’t enjoy singing, so first focus on projecting your voice without overthinking it.

Once your voice starts coming out comfortably, then work on matching the pitch.
