Yoko Nagayama’s Popular Song Rankings [2026]

Yoko Nagayama, whose “But you know” pose—spreading her arms to the music—became a hot topic.

Her 1995 release “Suterarete” was a hit, launching her into the ranks of popular enka singers.

She originally debuted as an idol singer.

This time, we’ll introduce her popular songs in a ranking.

Born in the Reiwa era, this is a hymn to life for adult women everywhere, with a soothing, massage-for-the-heart effect! “As Long as the Booze Is Tasty” was released in 2023 as a single by Yoko Nagayama, and just as the title suggests, her cheerful delivery of lyrics that make drinkers want to slap their knees and say “Exactly!” is energizing—not only for women, but for anyone who listens.

The melody and Nagayama’s vocals are classic enka in style, so if you’ve mastered the basics of enka technique, you should be able to sing it with ease.

As an enka piece, it’s not particularly difficult, so beginners can use this song to practice techniques like kobushi (melodic ornamentation).

The familiar commercial jingle for Ito Onsen’s Hotel Hatoya—“Call 4126”—is the work of two big names: lyrics by Akiyuki Nosaka and music by Tak Izumi.

What’s even more surprising is that the song for “Tairyōen,” which appears in the latter half of the video, is reportedly sung by Yoko Nagayama in her childhood.

Amazing!

Yoko Nagayama, who is now active as an enka singer, actually debuted not in enka but as an idol singing J-pop.

However, even at 16, Nagayama had received solid vocal training as an enka singer and had excellent singing ability, but she couldn’t go against the voices around her saying, “Enka at 16 is too soon!” and gave up.

Most likely, because she had such a cute face, they wanted to promote her as an idol.
