THE YELLOW MONKEY Popular Songs Ranking [2026] (41–50)
Let’s go avant-gardeTHE YELLOW MONKEY43rank/position

Brimming with glam rock elements, this song encapsulates the allure of THE YELLOW MONKEY.
Released in March 1993 and included on the album “SICKS,” its lyrics, themed around male homosexuality, vividly portray a spectrum of emotions in love and carry a message that encourages taking on new challenges.
It’s known as a live staple, sometimes stretching beyond 20 minutes with electrifying interactions featuring guitarist Hideaki Kikuchi and member introductions.
It’s a perfect pick for those who crave the thrill of falling in love or want to take a step into a new world.
A track that showcases the breadth of THE YELLOW MONKEY’s musicality—be sure to give it a listen!
Hotel NeutrinoTHE YELLOW MONKEY44rank/position

Reuniting in 2016, THE YELLOW MONKEY has continued to lead Japan’s rock scene.
This track is a milestone number released in January 2024, following vocalist Kazuya Yoshii’s throat treatment.
It was also chosen as the theme song for WOWOW’s drama “Tokyo Poverty Girls: I Thought Poverty Had Nothing to Do with Me.” The work’s concept is a unique worldview that likens the human body to a “hotel” and the soul to its guest.
Set to a lively ska-tinged sound, it portrays life’s final destination in the form of a “checkout.” Metaphors about the daily routines that pile up and collapse, and the scattered sadness and hope, seem to vividly reflect the band’s distinctive view of life and death.
It’s a rock tune that reveals a new side of the band—one that faces life’s emptiness while exuding a breezy, unflappable strength.
RosannaTHE YELLOW MONKEY45rank/position

This is the first new song of 2017 from the reunited The Yellow Monkey.
Although it wasn’t released as a single, the repeating guitar riff is striking, and Kazuya Yoshii’s soaring vocals make it a very pleasant number.
The music video offers a glimpse of the members’ true selves, featuring recording scenes and off-shot footage.
primordial childTHE YELLOW MONKEY46rank/position

It’s a song included on the album “SICKS,” released in 1997.
In the lyrics, a younger brother appears and gets in my way, but the content makes you think that the term “younger brother” is being used to depict something more conceptual.
The title “Souseiji” seems to also include the meaning of “Sōseiji,” which refers to twins.
Scat at DawnTHE YELLOW MONKEY47rank/position

The original song is by Saori Yuki.
A rock band gives this mellow Showa-era classic a simple arrangement, yet the guitar tone in the interlude is so captivating that you can’t help but listen closely.
What’s more, despite being a male vocalist, Kazuya Yoshii’s sensuality is truly impressive.
While retaining the mood of a kayōkyoku tune, it conveys a unique world of its own.
The Blues of the Fur CoatTHE YELLOW MONKEY48rank/position

It was a song performed at a live show held exclusively for the fan club.
Unfortunately, it has not been released.
Although it is currently hard to obtain, you can listen to it because it is included as bonus footage in the “Mekarauroko LIVE BOX DVD.”
The Pearl-Colored Age of RevolutionTHE YELLOW MONKEY49rank/position

Fans’ hearts race with heat as intensity and beauty intersect in this song.
Long cherished as a signature work by THE YELLOW MONKEY, it was included on their 1992 debut album, “the night snails and plastic boogie,” and showcases the band’s musical breadth.
In live performances, it has at times been played with a full orchestra, captivating audiences with its grand arrangement.
The lyrics woven by Kazuya Yoshii seem to symbolize individual emotions in a chaotic era and a yearning for social change.
It is a song that resonates with people living through turbulent times, offering solace and stirring empathy.
