THE YELLOW MONKEY Popular Songs Ranking [2026] (41–50)
LOVERS ON BACKSTREETHE YELLOW MONKEY50rank/position

A track included on the indie album “Bunched Birth.” It’s the first song Yoshii wrote for THE YELLOW MONKEY.
He was so excited about forming the band that he crammed in too many ideas, making it a difficult piece for the members to perform.
It was re-recorded as the B-side to “Nettaiya” (Tropical Night).

RED LIGHTTHE YELLOW MONKEY51rank/position

The “RED LIGHT” in the title refers to the red-light district.
It means an area where prostitutes used to work.
The first gentle female voice is Minako Ban’s, and when intertwined with Yoshii’s tender yet subtly suggestive voice, it adds even greater depth.
ROCK STARTHE YELLOW MONKEY52rank/position

This is a track from their third album, “jaguar hard pain.” It depicts Yoshii’s desire to become a rock star.
A live version was later included on the best live album “SO ALIVE.” It’s one of their live staples, with lyrics that sing of Yoshii’s dreams and hopes, such as wanting to be “a rock star whose death makes the newspaper.”
Subjective Late ShowTHE YELLOW MONKEY53rank/position

This is a track from the first album, “THE NIGHT SNAILS AND PLASTIC BOOGIE / 夜行性のかたつむり達とプラスチックのブギー.” It is said to be the first song the members played together when they reunited.
It’s also the title of the hall tour starting this fall.
During live shows, Yoshii performs Kamen Rider’s transformation pose in the instrumental break.
TV singerTHE YELLOW MONKEY54rank/position

The lyrics could easily be taken as criticism of musicians who appear on TV and the like, which makes me really nervous, but apparently it’s actually a song that strings together irony directed at themselves.
It’s a cautionary song to keep them from getting big-headed after becoming successful.

A song included on the album “Punch Dranker.” It’s also the origin of the stage name of the comedian “Go☆Jasu.” Yoshii himself wanted it to be released as a single, but that didn’t happen, and it was instead used as the B-side to “Hanareru na.”
Love Love ShowTHE YELLOW MONKEY56rank/position

There are probably many people who love this song by The Yellow Monkey! It’s a real crowd-pleaser, and that catchy vibe that makes your body move without thinking is great, don’t you think? Yoshiii’s vocals are fantastic too, and if you imitate his singing style, it might really get a good reaction.
